My self-summary
I think things through and am rarely frantic or in a big hurry. When I do something, I do it right. I like coffee shops and bars with live music, but I don't like the music to overwhelm the conversation. I don't dance well, but I don't mind when people giggle at my dancing. I am a passionate nut about political debate, but if you remind me, I won't bring it up in the wrong places. I am a left-liberal who will just simply wink if your conservative uncle talks at the table.

A trip to Scotland with someone nice would cap my life!

Not to hold myself, or anyone, to too many strictures, but a competent musician (all else being equal) would be the ideal match!

I would certainly entertain a permanent relationship. But, mind you, I really like being single, after all these years. However, a lightning bolt would do it. As long as it takes...........

I love science and history. The stranger the physics of something, the more I like it. I don't like small talk and gossip. My children are the MacIntosh, Fuji and Red Delicious apples of my eye.

I am ready to step out and do some physically challenging things, that I haven't done all these years raising kids and running a business, while I am still strong and healthy. Right now my physical activity is limited to an hour at the gym and pool every morning, plus what working in a shop-full-o-machines affords. I want to put the results to good use.

"Gratitude is riches and complaint is poverty. And, the worst I ever had was wonderful." - Brother Dave Gardner

This might be a deal-breaker, but I have to be up-front and honest. I...... uhm........ also play the bagpipes.
What I’m doing with my life
Just trying to keep hard times from knocking on my door and not lose out on good times too much by doing it. I am re-inventing myself and diversifying my business. I love what I do. It's one of those situations of surrendering lucre to satisfaction. My goal is to retire on a live-aboard sailboat of about 35 or 40 feet, sail around and play/teach music with, or for, people. A boy can dream, can't he?
I’m really good at
Craftsmanship. Music. Writing. Cooking. Cleaning. Somewhat good at car and house maintenance/repair. Conversation. Somewhat good a physical sports. Driving. Entertaining kids and keeping them out of danger. Somewhat good at finance. Trapping fruit-flies.
The first things people usually notice about me
Height, stature. Wallflower, until I am comfortable with someone, or the group. Fake nails on right hand for playing guitar (I give a fantastic backscratch that most men can't.)

Six things I could never do without
The 5 things I could never do without are: 1. My children 2. A close friend or two. 3. A high quality steel string acoustic guitar. 4. A set of high quality Uilleann Pipes. 5. Irish Sessiun. 6. A day like today. 7. Physical workouts. 8. Breaking silly inconsequential rules.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The best way to make pleasant noises and, the best way to encourage others to do the same.
On a typical Friday night I am
what I am.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It's true what's not worn beneath the kilt.
You should message me if
If you would like to chat with a sincere, sober, not-wealthy-but-not-poor man, with a fanatical work ethic in a vocation that has coursed through his blood since childhood, who is not averse to forgetting his work ethic and cutting up sometimes, he'll listen. And he promises not to refer to himself in 3rd person, subsequently.
