My self-summary
I think it is very difficult to define people by what they do, but let's see... I think paddle surfing was invented because someone knew that one day I would fall in love with it. The ocean calls to me louder than any Siren. I love to travel, and I always try to integrate a piece of new cultures into my life. I never get souvenirs that collect dust; instead I get a sundress everywhere I visit.

I love to play sports, especially sand volleyball and hot yoga... but I have done everything from soccer to triathlons. I recently started taking a SUP Yoga class and LOVE it. I'm taking on a half ironman soon, so hopefully I won't get beaten by an 80 year old (or get eaten by a shark)! I dislike being busy all the time... I am working on it; I promise. I think it is very important to pursue health, balance, and Truth (and yes, I like the Oxford comma).

I tend to be a little sarcastic and snarky. I get very passionate about things that tug on my heart-strings. I am something of a contradiction: I am hopelessly romantic while also quite cynical (it might be a mix of realism and a defense mechanism). I am wrapping up my second masters and will be shifting my career from teaching to the business world.

I can be a little slow to "let people in," but when I do, you're really in. I am definitely not perfect, but I always mean well. I don't have my ears pierced, and I'm not that into jewelry. I love (GREEN) tea. I named my car Paschal even though it's a Toyota. I try to live and love in a way that truly aims for the good of the other person.
What I’m doing with my life
I recently left the "real world" to get a second masters at the A&M business school. I previously taught high school theology, and as much as I loved it, it just didn't pay the bills. I'll be starting my new career in Austin soon! I'm off on a new adventure... wish me luck!

Although I'm a Texas native, I'm new to Austin... your recommendations are much appreciated as I get settled.
I’m really good at
planning events and trips, "reading" people, finding an excuse to spend time in the sun, falling in love with what inevitably turns out to be the most expensive thing in any store (and walking away)... oh, and I am a decent cook.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am a little shy, but I am very loving and affectionate. I can often be found dancing/singing to the radio (usually without really realizing it). Also, I apparently point my toes a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Theater wasn't listed, but I absolutely adore live productions.

Books: Redeeming Love, by Francine Rivers; The Great Divorce, by CS Lewis; Divine Comedy, by Dante

Most recent read: The Third Industrial Revolution, by Jeremy Rifkin

Movies: Under the Tuscan Sun, Children of Men, Return to Me, Boondock Saints, Italian Job... I've been on a dark comedy kick. In Bruges, anyone?

Shows: The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother

Music: Almost anything (no heavy metal or whiny country)... I have a playlist for every occasion.

Food: CHOCOLATE, Italian, Mexican, Japanese (I have a thing for hibachi), fresh fruit (especially guava and mamones... if you know where to get either of those in the states, please lmk), salads... I will try most things at least once
Six things I could never do without
Sunglasses (They are my 5th limb).
Chocolate (the darker, the better)
Flip Flops
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about a lot of things. I am slightly idealistic, and I have a strong interest in philosophy and theology (or at least a masters degree's worth). My most frequent daydream would have to be about moving to the beach and opening a little gelato shop or wine bar.
On a typical Friday night I am
During the school year, I often opt for a much needed night of rest and leave the fun for Saturday. Sometimes I work an evening shift, too. However, I love to play sand volleyball, go out dancing, try a new restaurant, see the occasional movie, or just sit and talk at a coffee shop with a good friend (or someone who could use a good friend).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Despite my desire to be married and have a family, I really dislike weddings... I just don't see what all the fuss is about; I'd rather put all that effort into the actual marriage.

I know this might make me sound like an old man, but I love a single malt scotch old enough to order its own single malt scotch.
You should message me if
in no particular order...
... you know who you are and what you want in life.
... you can have an interesting conversation that lasts longer than 5 minutes.
... you understand that relationships take a lot of work.
... you have the capacity for empathy.
... you are taller than me (negotiable).
... you like to be spontaneous and see the world.
... you actually do what you say (calling, showing up on time for things, etc)
... you do NOT smoke.
... you can tell your mother, "no."
... you are a gentleman and know how to pursue a woman (chivalry is not dead; it just doesn't live in everyone). If you are looking for a one night stand, I am NOT the girl for you.
... you are a practicing Christian (Catholic preferred).
... you are debt free (or are actively working on becoming so).
... you are active and/or athletic.
... you are musically inclined (a little rhythm and pitch go a long way... knowing how to dance is a huge plus).
... you are literate enough to avoid common grammar mistakes (for example, you can distinguish your/you're and their/there/they're).
... you understand this quote: "The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet."
