I'm currently an Accounting Major at WIU-QC. Yes, I do like bookkeeping and numbers and solving numerical problems, but computers do most of that now. Accounting has evolved into more of being a business manager, consultant, and adviser. Okay yeah, it's still not as cool as being an MLB player, but it's not "Louis Tully" from Ghostbusters nerdy.
From '01-'05 I was enlisted in the USMC as a Marine Bandsman in the Fleet Marine Forces, playing trumpet. Then I went to SIUC only to find no jobs in my major as the recession hit. So now I'm at WIU-QC majoring in Accounting.
I guess I'm a bit of a geek/nerd, and I'm fine with that. I do like numbers, so beware! I've started geeking out a bit on guitar gear. Keep me in check!
Also, I've somewhat recently gotten back into playing the guitar. It's fun and relaxing. I'd like to be a better at it. I know what that really "locked in" feeling is, and I'd like to get closer to that on guitar. Plus it would be more fun to jam with some people and maybe play out some time.
I like video games too. Sometimes a bit too much when a certain anticipated game comes out. Otherwise I try to keep myself busy with other things. The moral of the story is if you love a certain Xbox 360 game and want me to play with you, I probably would.
Anyone hiring entry-level for next summer/fall?
It happens! Really!
And an awesome goatee...
And there is a general aura of awesome surrounding me.
Books: Stephen King, Douglas Addams, the Dresden Files, Sherlock Holmes stories, Inspector Rebus novels by Ian Rankin.... I like to read and could spend all day on this. Most recently I've managed to read every book by Christopher Moore I could find. But lately it's been all text books/school reading.
I try to say I enjoy "good" music, ranging from Bach and Beethoven, Kenneth Alford marches, to the Beatles, Cream/Clapton, SRV, and even a bit of Ozzy ("Perry Mason" is great). Lately I've been trying to listen to classic British rock such as the Who, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and making myself more familiar with the Beatles. I do likes me some good Texas Blues (SRV in particular), and I enjoy Jerry Reed ("Eastbound & Down") and even Jim Croce. Not really into Rap/Hip-hop/R&B, but very specific tunes can get me "a tappin'" my toe, but very rarely. Not terribly into "country" either (but I'm open to exploring the the genre).
I've started listening to Phil X & The Drills. They really Kick Ass! And some Halestorm.
I enjoy food. After a couple formal meals with formal presentation and waitstaff, I've discovered it's kinda' fun. Not an every day/week kind of thing, but periodically....
I can't take spicy food. I'm not a complete wimp, but my recipes don't involve adding a few more jalapenos. I prefer a "milder" flavor. No hot/spicy Thai food!
But I do smoke. I'm afraid that that may be a significant turnoff to otherwise very compatible and quite lovely women. I try not to be obnoxious with it, and try to avoid offending those who dislike it. But it is a strong physical addiction, quitting for a girl NEVER works, and at least right now I'm not trying to give it up.
Bonus points if you know what I'm talking about, and double bonus if you can tell me THE answer.
Thursday or Saturday nights I can be coaxed out to a bar, especially if there is live music.
Okay, I've thought about it... I giggle.
Not all the time, or even every day. But when something is funny in just the right way (not laugh out loud, but more than a chuckle) I can become a giggling buffoon. It's funny, but embarrassing. I'm so ashamed...
If you want to go out/hang out sometime. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon....
Or if you've happened across my profile through random overseas searching and you're from someplace interesting, or you think that I think the place you're from is interesting (London, Edinburgh, Paris, most anyplace in Europe, Montreal or someplace else interesting in Canada even) and would like to send some messages back and forth... maybe even real letters. Even just pen-pals stuff, because mail from foreign countries is the bee's knees!
