My self-summary
I'm a no bs kind of girl. I got my cards on the table and not only do i know how to play the game, some say I created it.

I recently saw a contestant from Top Chef and am brushing up on my cooking skills, but it's harder to cook when you don't have anyone to cook for...

I love movies, especially horror movies. Trying new things and being the dare-devil inside me who likes to be a little frightened. Maybe it is the rush or the reassurance that comes with it.

I am known to be able to pick up and go in about 20 minutes to go on a random adventure. I love trying new things. I have rappelled down Navy Pier Tower, karate chopped wood, kick-boxed, and learned how to tango all in one day. It is called City Chase, which is basically Fear Factor meets Amazing Race - I highly recommend it!

I used to own my own karaoke and DJ service, so I have a huge love for music and I hate the song "Love Shack." It makes my ears bleed.
What I’m doing with my life
I am sarcastic and have a dry sense of humor. I love words which includes Scrabble and crossword puzzles. It also explains why I'm an aspiring writer and would love to try improv or stand up. I think it would be awesome to work as a writer or actress for a show like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

But I have been working in advertising, mostly media buying, planning and selling. This economy is trying to cut my throat, but I won't let it.

Ideally I want to be a roadie for G. Love and the Special Sauce ;)
I’m really good at
Having fun, laughing and writing. I love music and movies too. I believe I am a great judge of character and love to laugh and make others laugh, it is my favorite past time.

I have an odd sense of calming people down and also direction. I am proud to know how to drive a manual car and my ability to face my own fears and be honest.
The first things people usually notice about me
Often people say, "You're always smiling." To this I respond, "I'm sorry would you rather I was grumpy?" This annoys me only because I wish people had something to say with substance. I guess it is better than the typical "Wow, this is some weather we are having." Update 2/2017 - I had a miserable job for 2.5 years, but I stuck it out, only to be laid off. Things aren't easy and that smile has been missing in action. Hope to find it soon.

I would also say people notice my hair. I am a red head, which is only 1-2% of the U.S. population. So dating me is like dating an endangered species.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Favorite author - Chuck Palahniuk. Others include: Craig Clevenger, Stephen King, Augusten Burroughs, William Christopher Baer, David Sedaris and Max Barry.

Movies: Memento, Usual Suspects, Clue, Breakfast Club, Goodfellas, He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, American Beauty, Amelie, Saw series, Pulp Fiction. Seven, 12 Monkeys, Slumdog Millionaire, Cabaret plus suspense thrillers (Breathing Room, Primal Fear - love Edward Norton!) horror films especially - Old Boy was simply amazing and Spike Lee is redoing it (11/13), I hope it is good! Update - 11/2016 - crap movie. Spike Lee should've left it alone.

Shows: The Wire is by far the best television series ever. Beyond that I like(d): Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Damages, The Office, Weeds, Dexter, Nurse Jackie, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Modern Family, Dexter, Demitri Martin, Sopranos, Rescue Me, Six Feet Under, Chappelle Show, Arrested Development, Better Off Ted, and Seinfeld. UPDATE 11/13: MISFITS - British show; totally amazing!!!

Music: G. Love and the Special Sauce, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Black Star, Morrissey/The Smiths, L7, Silversun Pickups, Benni Benassi, Wu-Tang Clan, Radiohead, Tribe Called Quest, Devotchka, The Roots, Q-Tip, Erykah Badu, Jay Z, Led Zeppelin, NIN, The Doors, Bob Dylan, The Pixies, Jimi Hendrix, Common, Alice In Chains, Jamiroquai, Fiona Apple, The Strokes, The White Stripes, Jack White, Velvet Underground, The Beatles and Moby.

Food: Breakfast food is my favorite. Mexican food too. Beyond that I love to try new things and really can only say I am not a fan of Indian Food, but I think I need to try it again.
Six things I could never do without
Communication (words and actions combined)
Laughter (Humor)
My cat, Dexter
New adventures
I spend a lot of time thinking about
EVERYTHING! I love people watching and trying to understand what makes people tick.

Inventions. I swear I have a new crazy idea every day. The problem is implementing them.

Honesty. I am honest to a fault and I am the type of person to face my fears head on and learn from my mistakes. I own it. If you prefer to be an ostrich and not fix yourself, but rather make excuses - we will have problems. I am opinionated but I will be gentle, unless you aren't getting it and I will come at you like a hammer. I am working on that right now. I consider patience something I lack. You also better be able to laugh at yourself! Basically, try not to be a pot calling the kettle black. People know when they come to me with a question I will answer honestly because I care. I am a loyal and honest because I lead by example, but I like a guy who knows how to lead too.

Update 11/2016 - one important quality - you need to be conscience of others. You need to have empathy and often put yourself in others shoes. If you don't do that on a regular basis, chances are we will not get along.
On a typical Friday night I am
Writing or watching television. Possibly checking out a new band or going to a street fair. Maybe watching a movie or having dinner with friends. I love hanging by the lake and live so close to it!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am "married" to my cat on facebook, but I'm not a cat lady. It started as a joke, until everyone from high school thought I made my husband change his last name. This made me laugh and keep it.

I have a rough seemingly unbreakable exterior, but honestly I am a marshmallow inside. I hate to admit this, it makes me feel weak.

I have a fear of stairs. Not snakes, spiders, heights...stairs. Weird I know.
You should message me if
I'm not looking for a pen pal. So holla if you find similarities that intrigue you enough to maybe want to meet and do something: Go to an improv show/comedy club, watch a Hawks game or go to dinner. You also must live in Chicago because I don't have a car and I feel it to be unfair to make one person commute.

(Wtf is short term dating? I'm kind of lost. I mean, is that where you date someone but know you don't want to marry them, but you are afraid of being alone? That's definitely not me.)
