I find it unfortunate that online dating is so acutely focused on what we have in common. I delight in our differences and appreciate all types of people. You don't have to have the same opinion as me, you just have to have asked the question and be able to articulate the justification for your conclusion. Whether we are to be friends or lovers, I derive great pleasure in simply learning the rich complexities of why you do what you do.
I love having good clean fun outside and in. I sleep equally well in a bivy or bed, love to dance, dabble in art and music, and am always up for benign mischief. I am particularly passionate about playing in the mountains, public health, and all creatures- great and small. I fancied being an outdoor extremist during my twenties. Unfortunately, my disposition left me a bit short of the mark...I'm just not THAT crazy, and pain is totally overrated. Regardless, I'm always up to try anything, and hope we can have many wild adventures together.
Movies: Anything epic with a happy ending such as The Count of Monte Cristo, Willow, Pride and Prejudice, Fried Green Tomatoes. Violence as entertainment disturbs me a lot, especially if it involves animals and children. I vomited after Pan's Labyrinth and found Cold Mountain thoroughly traumatizing. I am careful to steer clear of such things now. My beloved grandfather was an infantryman in Patton's 80th division during WWII. He was captured during the battle of the bulge and suffered horrifically as a POW. His rejection of war and violence influenced me greatly as a child. I've dutifully watched every WWII documentary available to give me context for his sacrifices, but mostly prefer movies with rainbows and butterflies...and the occasional aliens vs giant robots apocalypse flick.
Music: I adore music, especially when its homemade. Summer 2013: Photosynthesis, Beloved, and Burning Man.
Food: I eat anything but babies. When I first moved west, I was totally in awe that grocery stores stayed open 24hrs. I would often go to the store and mosey about the isles at 1am, just because I could. I have heard that there are homes where portions, and ownership of said portions, is of high importance...independent of resource limitations. In my childhood home it was first come, first serve. if we ran out of pie, we baked more pie. I refuse for food to be a cause of tension as it is one of my most sacred forms of celebration. My ideal evening is cooking and sharing good food with good friends, or whomever is around at the moment. Nurturing people with food makes me very, very, happy. It's all about love, family, belonging, and connecting!
Drugs, coffee, and alcohol: Never have, never will. My vice is sugar...and I embrace it with enthusiasm.
