My self-summary

My name is Paul. I have worked as an archaeologist over 20 years, mostly in the Middle Atlantic region. I am originally from Wilmington, Delaware, and now make my home in Newport News, Virginia. Until recently I worked for the Army at Fort Monroe where I managed the post's archaeological sites and 189 contributing elements to the Fort Monroe National Historic Landmark District.

In my spare time I am a photographer and artist, I collect antique books and art prints, and I enjoy reading, writing, and film.

I have traveled to England, Ireland, Greece, and Mexico, as well as much of the US. I would LOVE to travel to Italy one day!

I am a life-long Democrat, socially liberal/financially conservative in nature. I am more than willing to engage in a political discussion, provided it doesn't devolve into a shout-fest.

I am an atheist; however, I have no problem with other people's beliefs, provided they are not crammed in my face. Diversity is a good thing, as is tolerance.

I am an empiricist, a skeptic, and a secular humanist, and I place my faith and trust in science, logic, learning, and rational thought.

I enjoy other cultures, especially when it comes to food! My favorites include Italian, Greek, Thai, Indian, Mexican, Japanese, and Chinese.

I am 1/2 Italian on my father's side, and 1/2 Spanish on my mother's side.

I do like kids and pets, so package deals are not a problem for me. Ok, full disclosure: I am not wild about infants, but little kids (ages 4 ^) are perfectly kewl.

BTW, I don't get college football, but I do have a life-long passion for baseball (Go Cards!), and I do enjoy college hoops and pro football (except my team stinks). Sorry, zero interest in NASCAR or other activities where cars go round and round.

I enjoy casual hiking and would like to try camping some time. Other activities I enjoy are board games, rpg, going to museums, antiquing, and anything involving zombies! I fly my nerd flag high and proud!
What I’m doing with my life
I dig holes all day long, looking for dead people and artifacts. Well, I used to. Now I am a bureaucrat, which means I manage contractors who come in and dig for me.

Career change! Now I work for the Foodbank, which means I try to make sure everybody in the community gets a chance to have a good meal, and I think it is an important and satisfying job.
I’m really good at
eating pizza. Very good!
The first things people usually notice about me
is that I am usually poking someone with a stuffed animal or doing something odd and silly to make people laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Six things I could never do without
1) my comfy, comfy home...
2) my friends & family
3) lots of bad cow jokes...
4) Music and movies
5) a long, hot shower
6) Crispy, thin crust pizza
I spend a lot of time thinking about
1) garden gnomes - I think they're plotting to take over the world
2) hedgehogs - do they have knees or what??
3) cows, of course
4) Alyson Hannigan - she's my favorite snugglebunny. I love nerds and smart people in general
5) Weng Weng, the Filipino super-agent kung-fu ninja midget....
6) Mystery Science Theater 3000

10)Sushi, single malt scotch, and my Keurig.
On a typical Friday night I am
Playing Munchkin or watching terrible monster movies with my fellow nerdlings...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There is a long and silly story behind the whole cow-thing...
You should message me if
you are a cute, sweet, intelligent lady who is tired of the same guys playing the same old games. I am different, and different is good! I like to go slow, one step at a time, but I am in it for the long run.
