My self-summary
Hi, my name is Bill. I've got a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. I try to be optimistic, yet stay grounded in reality, and look for the humor in everything.

A few things that make me different than the average guy:

I've been vegan for about four years, and it's been several years since I've had a drink of alcohol. If your diet is different from mine, or if you enjoy a drink every once in a while, don't let my unique set of rules scare you away. I'm perfectly comfortable around drunk carnivores, and hopefully you'll be just as comfortable around a sober vegan. :)

The third thing that makes me different from your average dude is that I believe in one less diety than most people. I try to be respectful of other's beliefs, but if you put a higher value on faith than science, then I hate to say it, but it probably won't be a match made in heaven (pun intended).
What I’m doing with my life
Running. I've run a few marathons. If you're a runner - great, I could use a running buddy. And if not, that's fine too...more miles for me!

Traveling. One of my goals is to travel more often, even if it's just a weekend trip.

In the last few years, I've accomplished some major goals. The one thing that was missing was having a special woman to share in the adventures. I'm not the type that needs to be in a relationship, but for me, spending time with someone you care about, and that cares for you, makes everything a bit better.

This is sounding really cliche isn't it? Moving on then...
I’m really good at
Tough-talking inanimate objects.

Photography, or at least I like to think I'm really good. The more complicated the assignment, the bigger the reward when it's complete. I love shooting panoramas.

I really like figuring out what makes people tick, why they think the way they do, and understanding their views. I should have gone into neuroscience.

And (over)analyzing things.
The first things people usually notice about me
My face. And, um....clothes. I have both.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Foo Fighters, Norah Jones, 80s rock, 90s alt & rock.

TV: Futurama, Derek, anything Seth MacFarlane, and any Nickelodeon show from the 80s or 90s.

Books: My Name Is Bill, Born to Run, The Demon-Haunted World, A Brief History of Time.

Movies: Dark City, Ted, Finding Forrester.
Six things I could never do without
Life without booze
Healthy vegan food
Science/Intellectual curiosity
Funny times
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where to travel next.

How America could put a man on the moon almost 50 years ago, but not today. And how a man can ascend 120,000 feet, jump, and land on the ground on his feet.

Why so many people believe things that to me seem totally batshit crazy.

Science, astrophysics, and how the universe works.

And robots.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typically going to bed early so I can get up early on Saturday and go for a long run. Otherwise, watching a movie at home, or getting dinner somewhere with friends or family.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I never learned how to ride a bike.

I've never seen Top Gun, and have no desire to see it.

Baseball, football, hockey, basketball...not into them.
You should message me if
You enjoy running.
You freakin' love science.
You have compassion for people and animals.
Your political views lean toward the left.
You aren't scared of fruits and veggies.
You don't need booze to have a good time...or can at least appreciate the reasons why someone would choose to abstain from alcohol.
