My self-summary
I'm Matias and generally, I like to laugh more than I like to cry. I like to bring laughter and beauty to the world around me. Music is quite important to me. My parents are from Uruguay and Chile, and my mom made sure to have me go to see my family down south as often as possible. Consequently, I was raised in two cultures and am too much of both to be either. So, I like to generate my own culture. And for the record, they don't give the option, but I actually identify as androgynous.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a biodynamic permaculture consultant, and am helping develop a few pieces of property. I have also started painting this year. I started making music off and on with a friend as well. We have almost finished our first E.P. Check it out at Soundcloud.com under M.O.G.U.L.
I’m really good at
Whatever I really want to be good at; with enough time of course.
Also, details.
And conversations that have more than one person doing all the talking.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably the way I speak. Or my name. That is a hilariously common conversation starter for other people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love live music. Little compares with being in the room the night that some especially amazing music is performed. I like a wide range of music, including (but not limited to) Bluegrass, Electronic, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Hip-Hop, and the Blues. The band I go out of my way most often to see live is Sector 9. Really the list of what I don't like is very short and mostly based on my mood. I would seriously challenge you to put on some music that I can't get into.

I LOVE to cook. I have been told by many people that I should start a restraunt. I especially love to bake pie/quiche.

Books/Authors/Poets: Arthur C. Clarke, William S. Burroughs, Aldous Huxley, Terence Mckenna, Daniel Pinchbeck, Shakespeare, Dr. Seuss, Ray Bradbury, Paolo Coehlo, Joseph Campbell, Bill Mckibben, Michael Pollan, John Steinbeck, Charles Bukowski, Allen Ginsberg. The Human Voice by Anne Karpf. The Secrets of the Talking Jaguar by Martin Prechtel. Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork Orange, The Silmarillion... Check back occasionally as I will be adding to these lists ;)

Movies: I Heart Huckabees, Everthing Kubrick ever made, Monty Python movies, Documentaries, anything by Hayao Miyazaki, Basquiat, Star Wars AND Star Trek series...

I had a roommate who was obcessed with South Park, so I have seen literally every episode. I like the Daily Show/Colbert Report. I can get down on a number of the adult swim cartoons. Recently rediscovered my love of Star Trek.
The six things I could never do without
Rivers
Friends/Family especially my dog!
Solitude
Music
GOOD food/drink
Art in its myriad forms
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Art, Activism, Life, The Universe, Poetry, Everything...
On a typical Friday night I am
Typical?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I feel like I'm on my own
No place that I will ever call my home
Save for the space within my bones

The cage that shields my heart from harm
The frame that gives my soul physical form
And roots me to the earth, the ground from which I'm growin'

Sometimes it tries to blind me; tries to keep me from knowin'
That time is an illusion, and my spirit keeps on flowin'
Beyond the edge of space, and all we can currently see

Open your eyes; you may come to find, the deeper mystery
The truth is not for knowing; it is simply for living
And though my love is not for free, it is always for giving
You should message me if
you have the time and the inclination. I do better on the response end of these kinds of arrangements -that is, conversations with no clear beginning and with someone who is still a stranger- so the more you write, the more I am likely to write back. Also if the answer to any of my 'questions' here seem odd or non specific, I probably answered on my phone and the app doesn't let you offer an explanation, so feel free to ask.
