My self-summary
The first time I picked up a universal remote, I thought to myself, "this changes everything."

...If that awful joke didn't have you running for the hills, then maybe we'd get along.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm still getting oriented, having just moved to the Nashville area at the beginning of September.

I'm a professional musician - I play trumpet, I write music, I teach music occasionally, and I do other music-related tasks. I'm currently working on a bunch of arrangements for a new band that I want to start in early January, playing original jazz and arrangements of some sweet standards.

I'm also a traveling tournament official for large strategy game tournaments, which is how I pay the bills right now. It's super nerdy, but it's fun.

I also have a channel on where I occasionally let people watch me play games and listen to music and tell jokes. The games I'm okay at, the music is sweet, and the jokes...well, I'm working on them.
I’m really good at
Playing trumpet, knowing the obscure, arcane rules to a complicated CCG, pretending to be productive, telling stupid jokes on the internet.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I kind of lump books, movies, and TV shows together, because they all tend to mesh into each other - I read a lot of comic books as a kid, especially Marvel comics, so seeing them turned into big action movies and TV shows (Daredevil was amazing, and I'm about to start Jesseca Jones). Star Wars is another big one for me - started with the movies, then read all the Extended Universe novels, and now I watch Star Wars Rebels in anticipation of Episode VII. I love action-filled Science Fiction and Fantasy, and I also love historical books, both fiction and nonfiction - I've read some good alternate universe histories, and I'm currently reading Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton (and waiting until tickets get less expensive to see the rap musical version of it on Broadway).

Music: I grew up with jazz and big band music, as well as classic rock, and old-style R&B (think Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, and the like). My playlist is an eclectic collection of hits from classical music all the way up to Ke$ha and beyond. Except for dubstep. I can't stand dubstep.

Food: I probably like a lot more than I regularly eat, but I'm not super adventurous when I'm on my own, so I pretty much stick to a consistent rotation of easy-to-cook meals that tend to revolve around pasta and sandwiches. Maybe you want to introduce me to something different?
You should message me if
If I seem interesting. If you feel like showing a relative newbie to the Nashville area around to some of the cool spots in town. Or if you're looking for someone to go see the new Star Wars movie with (totally looking for a date so I'm not the single guy who goes by himself).

If you're looking for workout buddies. I have a plan to lose a bunch of my extra weight in the upcoming year, and the thing I see myself having trouble with is the motivation to go to the gym. I just bought this fancy Planet Fitness membership, now I need to make myself use it.

Or if you just want to talk - I love chatting with people and seeing if we become friends or whatnot.
