My self-summary
I love to ask questions and I am insatiably curious about the world around me. I am happiest when I listen, learn and keep my mind open. I'm independent but I also know that life in the island of your own mind is a pretty lonely place. Basically I am balanced. I am a combination of cynicism and optimism and as I grow older I find the optimism part becoming stronger.

Let's hang out and be friends. If more happens that's great but otherwise making friends is quite cool.

I am a pretty normal New Yorker. Determined, optimistic, kind, adventurous, cranky at times, apathetic at times and occasionally stressed. And I would not have it any other way. I like my life.
What I’m doing with my life
I am the director of technology at a local biotech firm. I like what I do because I help other people , namely cancer patients, get their test results faster. That might sound somewhat banal but that speed may make the difference between life and death. I also like what I do because it makes me mindful of all the good things I have in my life.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh and telling stories. Also I am really good at laughing at the absurd ,a skill I have found useful in corporate America
The first things people usually notice about me
That I am godlike and incredibly handsome :)

It's that I can talk and tell some good stories :) For those who know me better I think they notice that I like to take chances and try new things all the time.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Reading is a great passion for me. I like history, non fiction as well as writers like Dostoevsky,Jane Austen (who is actually laugh out loud funny), Phillip Larkin, James Joyce ,Ralph Ellison ,Herman Melville, Henry James and Thomas Hardy.

Music: Right now the Ipod rotation features Sigur Ros, Wilco, The Shins, The New Pornographers, The Strokes, Ben Folds Five, Daft Punk,Paramore, Phillip Glass

Movies recent:Blue Jasmine,Francis Ha, The Look of Love (really anything with Steve Coogan)

All time favorites: The Third Man, Dr. Strangelove, Citizen Kane, Annie Hall,Star Trek,Airplane,Rashomon, Lolita (Kubrick's version)

TV: Got a tv but it is more of a DVD monitor. Recent things I have loved on DVD. House of Cards( both the original British version and the Kevin Spacey version), The original Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy ,Sherlock,Archer (absolutely hilarious), Portlandia, Mean Streets and The French Connection for a taste of NYC in the early 1970's.
Six things I could never do without
1) Job and money
2) relationships
3) ipod
4) gym
5) friends and family
6) books
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why do we have people who are 'drama queens' and 'divas'? Can't we just live our lives and be happy?

Why do we hold onto anger? If someone screws us over just move on,stewing about it does nothing but raise your blood pressure

Why do some guys want to bare their souls on these OKCupid profiles? If you want to bare your soul ,find a therapist.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out. Even if I am exhausted from my workweek I get out of my apartment if only to see a movie. But being out with people or hanging out with friends is key
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a Garfield stuffed animal that my little brother gave to me years ago. It sits on top of my computer monitor.
You should message me if
it strikes your fancy
