My self-summary
Once upon a time, I stumbled across OK Cupid. In fact I blame it on an old friend, who thought it'd be fun if I joined in on the cool surveys and quizzes they allow everyone to put up here. I did. I got hooked. I met a lot of super cool people here and made some very interesting friends too.

However, the point here is to give a self-summary. I'll give it a go. I'm a human being (the rest does not matter, we're all equal (though not similar)). There, that's enough about me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently doing a phd so that makes me (feel like I am) smart... to a certain degree. However, other people my age either have time for a family or have a priceless career in a booming business, with equally booming salaries to go with it. So in a way, perhaps I am stupid for doing a phd. One can debate this point...
I’m really good at
I'm 'reasonably' good at drawing and painting (I put that between exclamation marks to illustrate the amateur level of 'being good at'. Thus, compared to an average person, I'm quite good, but compared to Picassian geniuses I'm beyond hope)

Uhm... other things... lets see... finding some spark of interest
in topics. I can get animated by almost any field and topic.
Geography, physics, chemistry, psychology (big issue for me!)
sociology, history, philosophy (another big one) you name it, I can be interested.

One thing that is consistent though, I am always (nearly always, that is, I don't want to be tied to this) playing the devil's advocate. It can be tiring, but someone has to do the dirty work, right!

I recently read that it is best for groups (teams) that not one person, but multiple people, take on the role of devil's advocate, taking turns. So if you ever find yourself in a situation where one poor soul seems to be the sole advocate of the devil, be a nice guy (girl) and take over his (her) task! I know from experience that us advocates, we have a tough job sometimes...
The first things people usually notice about me
First things people notice about me are... my glasses. Because they're always almost falling off, and my hair, because I use it to hide behind.
You'd think I have a shyness issue. I don't, I'm Dutch, I have bluntness issues.

Other things that people notice about me are apparently so horrible that they have not yet dared tell me about it...

If you think of something truly horrible, offensive, or otherwise incredibly rude... please keep it to yourself. Just like everyone else, I do not mind a bit of honesty but I do NOT like to be offended. Funny how that is with humanity...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Fav books: all books giving insight into human behaviour and social psychology, communication, sociology and philosophy

Fav movies: Gladiator, and... MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL!!! And... I am not much of a movie-person. Don't have the patience to sit out a complete movie, so I know a lot of first halves of movies...

TV-series: House, Dexter, Lie to me, Black-adder

Fav music: Folk metal, metal, folk

Fav food: bread. Yes primitive, but I just love the stuff... with a bit of butter and then some, that's enough for me! Because of the pitiful lack of good bread in Sweden, I have turned to knäckebröd, though. And now I'm fanatic about that. Still with butter... or cream cheese. I'm in danger of becoming a Burgundian, I think... such extravagance and luxury...

... and Coffee, which is a substance I idolise. The world would stop existing without it. It is the black gold of the present, and I worship it before drinking!

Recent updates include a reduction in my idolisation of coffee. I noticed that even without revering it, and sacrificing babies to stimulate the gods of the Bean, life still pretty much goes on as normal. So I reduced my coffee intake. The world revolves still... It is amazing what a bit of risk and experimentation can do to your worldviews!
The six things I could never do without
1 My cognition and consciousness
2 Travelling (served with coffee)
3 Bread (and some coffee, occasionally)
4 People to occasionally be with, and occasionally be without (and coffee during both occasions)
5 Freedom (which actually tastes best while drinking a cup of coffee)
6 My imagination (one of the few things I'd consider trading coffee for)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking about...

meta-thoughts all around.

Yes, strange, but so is the fact that humans think. So basically, that's a subject to think about, the thinking process. Because other beings do not think the way we do, but perhaps partly so. We cannot know, but I am very curious about it, and... well, I could go on for hours... If you can too, message me!
On a typical Friday night I am
This used to be a place where I'd sum up completely ridiculous and utter nonsense, but no more. Typically on a Friday night I am at the same place where I was very late in the afternoon of that same Friday, after coming home from work. Watching a series, walking out of it half way through, surfing Wikipedia or reading a book, or pestering my boyfriend (yes, it exists! I am sorry if you've been nurturing hopes up until this point but then... you could have seen it on the quick data facts to the right of your screen as well)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I... am blonde?
not just hair-dyed, I'm actually truely somewhat blonde...
Although I'm still in denial! Besides, every now and then I identify a red hair, so I'm not really blonde at all!
You should message me if
You're somewhat like me or like people like me or when you're bored and interested in a discussion (which you will never win)...

Recent update: there have in fact been people who won a discussion from me. I will not reveal their identities, and I am still somewhat in a state of confusion as to how it happened. But it doesn't happen often, I tell you!
