My self-summary
I was in the Army for 6 years and then did 2 years in the National Guard. Right now I am a PhD student at Texas Tech studying Computer Science. I am extremely confident in just about everything I do. With all the stuff I've seen after 6 years in the Army there's not much that I come across that I can't handle.
What I’m doing with my life
I was recently accepted into the PhD program at Texas Tech so I will be continuing on with that after I get my Master's this fall. I am returning to Sandia National Labs for an internship this summer so I will likely have a job there after I graduate. That's a ways off though so I am keeping my options open.
I’m really good at
I'm very good at solving problems. It is what makes me a good computer scientist/programmer. I also happen to be very good at teaching. I used to tutor Math (too many courses to list) and Computer Science in The Learning Center at Texas Tech. I am also good at telling stories and making people laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently I have an accent (so I'm told).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Book: The Sword of Truth Series (the show sucked), The Malazan Book of the Fallen series, all three of the Kushiel trilogies. TV Shows: Big Bang Theory, SportsCenter (I don't watch much TV). Oh and I love watching the Packers play. Unfortunately most of the time I have to do other things.
Six things I could never do without
I hate these questions. I can never think of six things. As long as I have someone to talk to and the basic necessities of life (food, water etc) I'm just fine. Having certain things taken away makes life interesting. When I was deployed we had to come up with creative ways to entertain ourselves. Coming up with those ideas was almost as fun as executing them lol. If you're around the right people there's no way you can't keep yourself entertained and engaged.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I honestly think about the future a lot. Things I'd like to do, or accomplish and how I might accomplish them. Goals are good to have, but without a plan they're just wishes. Right now my primary goal is to finish my PhD. I'm about halfway there (more than halfway if you count undergrad as part of the process).
On a typical Friday night I am
Studying, watching football (I live in Texas lol), or hanging out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
IDK. There aren't many things I feel the need to hide. Ask me something and I'll tell you if its private lol. 99% of the time though I have no problem answering questions about myself.
You should message me if
You want to talk. I love to meet and talk to new people
