My self-summary
La politesse coûte peu et achète tout.

Realist hiding a gooey, hopelessly romantic center.

The bleedingest of bleeding hearts.
What I’m doing with my life
Delivering babies. Handing out birth control. Kicking it in the OR. Political activism on the side. Working to improve women's health and their access to care.
I’m really good at
making people laugh, listening, singing and music in general, cooking, baking, and writing. I like working with my hands and my brain, at the same time if possible.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have purple glasses, and I'm usually smiling or laughing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Neil Gaiman, Harry Potter, Jane Austen, Jhumpa Lahiri, Annie Proulx. The Time Traveler's Wife. Cloud Atlas.

Movies: all-time favorite is Jeux d'Enfants (in English: Love me if you dare). I like them funny, quirky, or in French, but I'm also a sucker for rom coms.

TV Shows: The Daily Show, Modern Family, Game of thrones, Walking Dead

Music: A little bit of everything. I tend toward female vocalists with melodic lines, good harmonies, and a folksy vibe. Good lyrics are a must. Florence + the Machine, Ingrid Michaelson, Adele, Amos Lee, Sara Bareilles, Amanda Palmer & the GTO, the Wailin' Jennys, Mumford & Sons, Hem.

I studied classical piano when I was younger and my favorite composers were mostly the Romantics-Debussy, Brahms, Chopin, Beethoven, and Rachmaninoff (and Bach preludes & fugues once in a while).

Food: I'm a lapsed vegetarian/occasional pescetarian. I took one look at the cheeseburgers one Fourth of July and figured, "Hey! It's America's birthday, it's the patriotic thing to do!" I love to cook, and I'm not afraid to improvise on a recipe--actually, I don't usually use recipes, I like to just throw things together and see how they turn out.
Six things I could never do without
How about six books I would want with me on a desert island?

- Harry Potter, in its entirety (okay, maybe this is cheating)
- The Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley
- Interpreter of Maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri
- The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood
- Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
- The Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-new recipes to try
-why people do the things they do
-what kind of person/doctor I want to be
-where I'll be in 1 and 5 years
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes working, sometimes (probably) relaxing at home or with friends. In general I'd rather be somewhere I can actually talk to my friends than someplace loud.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm still afraid of noises that go bump in the night.
You should message me if
Casual sex is
junk food to a romantic.
I'd like a square meal.

If feminism
doesn't scare you but instead
turns you on - say hi!

If you like poems
a haiku will do for me
Prose works just fine, too
