My self-summary
This section always seems to me like an exercise that would be given to you in therapy. Something that even though they say there are no wrong answers, you know it is being graded. That being said, I have to give it a shot.

I am on quest to live my life fully. For me, that means appreciating each moment and the people who share them with me. I think I have a relatively good head on my shoulders and do my best to walk with integrity.

Dating is new for me. It kinda scares the crap outta me. However, my experience says trying something is the best way to move beyond that fear. So here we go....feel free to join me.
What I’m doing with my life
I strive for balance. So I work some, I play some, I sleep, eat and read some. For a paycheck, I sell restaurant and food service equipment. I'm also working towards a Certified Records Manager designation, after ten years in that industry. The rest of the time I work on me and on enjoying the journey without getting too hung up on the destination. I have faith and try to practice spiritual principles. I try to give back to my community, however I can.

I love the people in my life, so I spend a good deal of time with them. Specifically at movies, walking (i love walking in the evening), having tea and generally finding joy where ever we are.

And then in between all that zen kind of stuff, I fold paper cranes and flowers, I surf the net for more information on random stuff I came across in the run of a day, I try to stay on top of letters and emails to distant friends (I'm not that good at it, but I make an honest effort). My current obsession is creating paper cut artwork.

If there was something you expected to see here and didn't, please read on or message me. I'm not too shy with the details of my life.
I’m really good at
Hugs, spontaneous acts of kindness and love, laughing a little too loud, kitchen dancing, folding paper cranes, cooking
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know....but now I want to ask all my friends. I'll let you know what they say.

OK...using the very valid, completely scientific methodology of a Facebook status, I've queried my friends and these are the results:

#1 - my smile
a close second - my kind energy
also mentioned were my charm and my eyes

I really should have asked this question earlier...apparently I'm an awesome guy with a great smile, charming and kind with nice eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favourite book is Not Wanted On The Voyage by Timothy Findley. Others would be To Sail Beyond The Sunset, Through the Narrow Gate, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, A Casual Vacancy. Authors would be Atwood, Findley, Vikram Seth, Robert Heinlein, John Shelby Spong, Dr. Seuss.

Movies - Auntie Mame, As Good As It Gets, Megamind (don't judge), anything with Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz, Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Judi Dench or Maggie Smith.

Shows - Broadway would be the classics, Les Mis, Cats, Tommy, South Pacific as well as Wicked and Rent. TV would be Fringe, Glee, Big Bang Theory, The New Normal, Doctor Who, Boston Legal

Music - really all of it, but I find myself going back again and again to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Pet Shop Boys, Kate Bush, Erasure, the works of Bach and Albinoni, Various movie scores and soundtracks, Swedish House Mafia and a few other remixes and finally most of the stuff on Glee (again, don't's called popular music cuz it's easy to like)

Food - Sushi, any kind of noodles, and while it may not be a type of cuisine, I love bowls. Not the vessel (although I do have a strong appreciation for good china) but meals in a bowl like pho, or the ninja bowl at Fresh or curry and rice.
The six things I could never do without
While I suspect this list would change depending on what I may be feeling deprived of in the moment, I think it would mostly be -

love in my life, water, a hot beverage of some sort, books (electronic or paper), continuous learning, music, laughter
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Getting things right, trying not to obsess about getting things right, appreciating the moment for what it is, gratitude for the profound abundance I have in my life

That sounds so healthy and peaceful. I should confess to spending time day dreaming, planning what I will do when I win the lotto/make my fortune/marry money (whichever comes first is fine with me), whether or not some cute guy I see on the TTC would be a good know...fluffy stuff
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't know what a typical Friday night is. Life is such an adventure. Chances are it will involve maki or noodles, some laughing and people I love.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
This question should be reworded to the most private thing I'm willing to put on a t-shirt. I'll tell lots of private things to a friend, but this is more like a public announcement.

Something that I'm actually quite open about that seems to surprise people (both because that "doesn't seem like me" and most people would think of it as private) is that I'm an addict in recovery. I count my clean time in years now, not days, but it is the reason I'm looking for someone who doesn't do drugs, even socially.
