I'm a pretty shy and quiet guy, really. I'm much better at talking over the internet than I am face-to-face, at least until I'm comfortable around you. In social situations that involve large groups, I function much better with people I know and am comfortable with.
I much prefer socialising with one person at a time, or in small groups.
I'm quite interested in physics and linguistics, and, in fact, anything that involves taking something apart to see how it works. That includes the people around me (minus the "taking apart" bit!) I like paying attention to small details and learning each person's idiosyncrasies. If that seems creepy and off-putting to you, then I'm afraid we probably won't get along. I also have a life goal of learning every language that there is. It's not realistic, but it's very motivating.
I came back, quit my job, and moved to Sydney with the intention of studying, majoring with honours in physics, and moving to Switzerland to work on the LHC project. I've wanted to do that for as long as I can remember.
But I changed my mind, and I am now doing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney, with a focus on Linguistics and French. I'm also learning Chinese, and teaching myself Italian in my free time.
For this year, though, I've put that on hold to try and get myself a little more financially stable - so I'm working in a post office. I'm contemplating transferring to do my degree online instead.
Long-term, I want to end up in a job that involves travelling, learning new things about the world and experiencing different cultures. I hope to work as a translator/interpreter, or anything that involves speaking different languages and meeting people from all around the world.
I'm also very much trying to improve my awareness of how to be a good person. I'm working hard, day by day, to educate myself on all the different sorts of people that make up this world, myself included.
I don't know if I have a favourite movie, I like most of them. Notable high points are The Princess Bride, the Star Wars films, Watchmen (which I haven't read yet), the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic 'Verse.
As far as television goes, at the moment I am into Game of Thrones in a big way. I am also quite a fan of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and I have just started really loving Bob's Burgers. I don't tend to watch much television, though, really.
My favourite bands and musical artists include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, Deltron 3030, and Uyama Hiroto, as well as Electric Six, Boards of Canada, and Daft Punk, the Arctic Monkeys, Stromae, Ryuichi Sakamoto, The Whitlams, Zaz, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, Boy and Bear, Ball Park Music, Yves Klein Blue, Angus and Julia Stone (and Lady of the Sunshine), The White Stripes, Kanye West...basically, assume I like it - I'll tell you otherwise.
I love most kinds of food, but I have a particular soft spot at the moment for all kinds of East Asian and South-East Asian foods.
- The prime factors of the current time
- The abundance of usernames on this site that end in "-tron" and "-inator". Did I miss this trend? (Actually, thanks to a lovely person from Croatia, I now know that this is what OKCupid does when you choose a name that's already taken. Much nicer than sticking a bunch of numbers on the end! Thank you, Eulbthecat)
- All of the rest
-You are looking for friends and think I would make a good one.
You can also message me if:
-You want to go on cute dates at dumb cafes and in small bars, or to the movies, and maybe see where it goes from there. <-- we can also do this thing without any seeing where it goes, you can totally have a date as friends and more people should!
If you've made it this far, send a message. You can seriously talk to me about anything that interests you, learning new things is my passion. Tell me what you love! Ask me about what I love!
