My self-summary
I'll try to spare you all the generic - and often times contradictory - adjectives about my personality that people seem to include in their profile :-) I'll let you make up your own mind as to if I'm "funny, kind, and energetic", and try to stick with more concrete descriptions.

I think that I'm best described as a science geek. I love science and I'm proud of it! So, if you find xkcd funny, you and I will get along :-). I love spending a lazy Saturday sitting at a good bar (usually JJ Mahoney's), chatting up the bartender and the other customers. On occasion, I've been able to combine my two loves, like when I met two former NASA engineers at the bar. I apparently blew them away with my knowledge of the Space Shuttle. I guess it's not every day they meet someone who knows where on the control panel the OMS engine switches are located!

My new adventure has been rock climbing/bouldering. You may notice the photo of my foot post bouldering, with a plate and 10 screws in it. Ok, yes, that slowed me down for 6 months, but I'm back climbing better than ever and loving it! Trying to get back into hiking as well (again, interrupted by the comminuted calcaneus/talus fracture :)).

The one important thing to know is that I have no desire for kids. I have two wonderful nieces whom I see whenever I can and love dearly, but have no interest in being a father, biological or otherwise. Being Uncle Chris is a fulfilling enough experience for me :). If you have or want kids, I'm sadly not the person for you.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a software devloper for a tiny little software company in Redmond that no one has ever heard of. If you don't need me to tell you that the previous sentence was meant as a joke, then we probably have compatible senses of humor :)

I love writing software. To me it combines the intellectual process of engineering (trying to come up with a better solution, making the best tradeoffs, and taking a critical eye at what you've done to try to see where you might have missed something) with the aestetic beauty of art. A well written piece of code is a beauitful thing, and I'm excited when I get to be the person who creates that thing.
I’m really good at
Coming up with (hopefully) funny, often inappropriate comebacks. I like to work Blue :)

Driving stick. It seems like it's a vanishing skill, so I'm pretty proud of it.

At one point in my life, I was really good at flying airplanes. Good enough, in fact, that they let me teach others to fly!
The first things people usually notice about me
I use profanity liberally, and hopefully to humorous effect :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books (in no particular order) are Thomas Paine's The Age of Reason, Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World, Richard Dawkins' The Blind Watchmaker, and Andrew Chainkin's A Man On The Moon. If you've read Robert Ingersoll's works, you get a gold star.

My guilty pleasure is watching cheesy horror movies. When AMC's MonsterFest roles around in October, I'm in heaven!

My favorite TV show would be Strangers with Candy. If you like this show - let's just cut to the chase - I'd like to meet you! A close second is the AMAZING Breaking Bad! Other great shows are Archer, Sleepy Hollow, Family Guy, American Dad, Robot Chicken, Squidbillies, Dexter (until the last Season), and Nova. Not a fan of reality shows. If the show invoves 20 woman parading themselves out in front of one guy desperately trying to get him to pick them over all the other women, I usually want to throw stuff at the TV (and lose my faith in humanity just a bit more - but still less than we I see Donald Trump's poll numbers).

My latest movie obsession is The Room.

My favorite music is whatever I happen to be in the mood for at the time. Frank Zappa is always on the list. Indigo Girls songs (at least the songs written by Amy) are always good. The Lonely Island is hilarious. Ben Folds with or without the Five. Van Morrison's album Moondance is sublime. Big Star is classic.

Food is usually anything grilled. I find that grilling is a simple way to take a basic meal and make it awesome. I go to Saporro Teryiaki at least once a week; I don't even need to order anymore, they know what I want (coworkers have apparently gone in and just ordered the "Chris" and they knew just what they meant!). Tropea in Redmond is incredible!
The six things I could never do without
Phosphorous (hey, gotta have ATP!)
A sense of humor (hopefully obvious from the previous 5 :))
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If there's anyone on OKCupid who *isn't* looking for someone with a good sense of humor? Also, is there anyone who believes that they do not have a good sense of humor?

Finally taking a flight across the Atlantic (seriously, I have this dream about once a month)
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with my friends at JJ Mahoney's.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Even though I'm a pilot, I'm deathly afraid of heights. Overcoming my fear was reasons that I got into rock climbing. I'm definitely better than I was a year ago!
You should message me if
You want to watch "Space Camp" with me (it's a borrowed DVD, so time is short! :))

You want to tell me the dirtiest joke that you know (or at least feel comfortable with :))

You like cats. If you don't like cats, you should meet my cat Rothko and then you'll definitely like at least one cat :)
