My self-summary
Just survived my first year of teaching! Went to grad school for sustainability engineering, then realized I didn't want to actually engineer myself and would rather teach it to others.

Also, I use a lot of exclamation points--but that's OK because NPR says it's cool now!

Hardcore urban cyclist (but not one of those jerks that run stoplights and signs. Planning a 1100 mi bike ride, but might have to cut it short to because of my teammate's health.

(And if you must know, I'm an ENTJ, but it's pretty flexible)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an engineering teacher for middle and high school students! Also finishing up a master's program in Environmental and Sustainability Engineering.

Aside from teaching, I volunteer for a nonprofit called Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW). Check them out, they're good people!

I also burn time by going on moderately long biking trips and rock climbing. I might've logged 5000 miles over the last 12 months?

And on the more creative side, I'm working on becoming one with my camera. Much more comfortable behind the lens than in front of it. My instagram feed is probably better than any amount of profile pics I can come up with for myself.
I’m really good at
1. Getting way over my head in deep discussions.
2. Scrabble (and apparently Bananagrams)
3. French Toast
4. Curry Mashed Potatoes
5. Lists
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm Asian? Actually once I get to talking, people tend to notice that I'm pretty good-natured and quite nerdy, usually in that order.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Generally not snobby about most stuff, except for Vietnamese and Chinese food since I get the real stuff at home.

An abridged list of media I love right now:

Legend of Korra
World War Z (book, not the movie)
Acapella music
Pop music (mostly the danceable portion)
The Omnivore's Dilemma
Terminator (1, 2, and the TV show)
NPR
Planet Money
Code Switch
This American Life
RadioLab
Six things I could never do without
1. My bike
2. Someone to argue with
3. At least 3 different streaming services to watch my shows
4. Someone's coffee to taste only to spit out
5. My camera
6. A good wall to climb
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I can change the world. There might have been just a few hints here and there throughout this profile, but I'm sort of "environmentally conscious" and my goal is to engineer a sustainable world.

Also, as of late, social justice, sex positivity, and political theory have become favorite tipsy topics of conversation.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out and about in the city, but the event varies. Alcohol is usually involved to some degree.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My secret to karaoking is to pick a song that everyone sings to, thereby drowning out my voice. The Backstreet Boys generally serves this function well.
You should message me if
You're intrigued by anything you've read or an interesting question pops up. It can also be totally random like "What does purple taste like?" or "Could God make a doughnut so big even He couldn't eat it?" or something more substantial like, "Why do you love Korra so much? It's just a cartoon."

You should also message me if you feel uncomfortable when white people use "woke".
