...So, time to change the opening paragraph. I got into this site a while back when I got an e-mail saying that my account was inactive. Since I had no recollection of making this account in 2006, I checked it out and thought hey why not. I guess I'm here to meet new people and make friends. We just moved to Grand Rapids from Kalamazoo so some local people would be nice, but I have made friends from farther away that are a lot of fun. Also, if you're into any kind of gaming, RPG's et al. I've been looking for a new group to join. I do have a group of people that I play "board games" (Munchkin, Settles of Cataan, etc.) with and if you're looking for someone to play with feel free to ask about that. Finally, my gf, apragmatist , and I enjoy having another woman join us from time to time, so if that fits your interests you can message either of us.
...Well, now that that's out of the way, guess I can go into a little bit more about myself. I'm currently the proud holder of a Liberal Arts Degree in Psychology and Theatre Arts from Kalamazoo College. The end result of which is that I now know I don't really want to become a therapist and can't really use a theatre degree for anything.
...I'm a consumate gamer. I'm currently on the Rules Team for a card game called Warlord and have been for a few years now including a switch of companies that produces the game. I've been attending conventions for the past 6 years and always enjoy myself. I read something almost every day and have only consciously not finished two books(sword of shanara and george carlin's last book).
...Outside of the fantasy world I'm also an avid poker fan. I enjoy watching it on television and play in a weekly game. I have only won one major tournament with roughly 130 people in it, but I do well in my home games and consider myself a competent player.
...In general I'm pretty open to anything. I don't say I'm non-judgmental, I just don't find most things to be judged badly. I enjoy good debates as long as people don't take the discussion too personally afterwards. I also like hearing about people's different lifestyles from the "norm." I at one time lived in a house with a polycouple and the wife's bf, though I never became involved in it.
...I'd say that fleshes things out a bit more in the self-summary. You see any similar interests in this or further down drop me a line with a relevant point of discussion and I'll keep it going. Though I have to admit I prefer AIM to messaging back and forth. If you want to just go ahead and send me an IM, AshGaidin is my nick there.
I am easy-going, humorous, and tolerant
...As for movies and music. I listen to just about anything that's not country (though I do have Johny Cash American IV), not a big fan of rap either. Classic rock is probably my favorite. I picked up listening to WIDR. It's Western's radio station and plays a lot of cool stuff that doesn't get commercial radio play. 99% of the time I'm driving I'll have it on.
...I watch a lot of movies, though not necessarily in theatres. Definitely have to say I'm a huge fan of The Dark Knight, awesome movie and great adaptation of Frank Miller's Batman. I like spaghetti westerns, but not the old John Wayne westerns. I'm into crime movies and other thinkers. Cheesy horror is probably my favorite genre and Bruce Campbell makes anything great.
2.Books, after a good library run I usually go through a book a day.
3.Internet, this actually got worse once I got on facebook.
4.Games, I like playing most games whether video, board, card, or otherwise.
5.Friends, being an extrovert I tend to turn my friends into my family.
6.Movies, a great window into human experience.
