My self-summary
Just looking for friends :)

I'm a huge geek and I love to read. I work a lot and love my job. I've lived in 9 countries and I'm the third culture kid product of a Greek and a Dane. I like to think about weird things, like , what would happen if our planet was knocked out of orbit and shot into space?

I used to be a club rat, but now I'd rather go to gigs or go bar hopping. Sometimes I shut the place down and sometimes I leave early because sleep is amazing. When I get bored I like to make things. One day after work I took a pallet apart and made a bench. I make my own herb planters out of cement. I love Martha Stewart.

I think fashion, photography and art are cool. I used to photograph fashion shows and gigs. Now I take pictures of people with interesting stories and interesting faces. I used to turn my little studio apartment in Madrid into a dark room on nights when there isn't much moonlight. I'm working on my darkroom situation here in Cairo.

I know two jokes and one of them is 10 minutes long. I love to tell stories and if I've been drinking I will tell you about the wise old man and his magic bag. It's mostly true.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm teaching physics at the British international school and working on a project with a non-profit and the Egyptian museum.
I’m really good at
Cooking and geeking out over obscure/cool stuff
The first things people usually notice about me
My cheeks/face go red when I get nervous
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Camus, Dostoyevsky and the classics, but some of the new stuff is cool too. Right now I really like Jon Ronson. I like finding pulp sci fi books from the 50's or anything a little weird. Oh and I went through a huge Chuck Palaniuk phase. Is that a guilty pleasure? Fuck it. I like him.

I watch a lot of independent films and went through a French new wave phase, but I watch everything. Really. Anything.

I don't normally watch tv, but when I do I'll watch a season in a week. I like Portlandia, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Girls and other hipster bullshit.

I like deep/tech house, minimal techno and summer mixes. I mostly listen to super chill music, like, anything from Majestic Casual. Hip Hop and R&B (a la The Weeknd, Frank Ocean or Kid Cudi) can be really cool and I like dub, reggae and jamaican dancehall. Whenever I'm with friends and we don't know what to do we listen to Major Lazer. Sometimes I get into a mood and listen to jazz or Tom Waits. I'm pretty sure that's what I'll be listening to when I'm old and settled down.
The six things I could never do without
A camera and film
Books, lots of books
Really nice wine, like the stuff Greek Orthodox monks make for the Kremlin
Sitting around on sunny breezy days
Chill fun music
Travel, either decadent and luxurious or dirt cheap
I spend a lot of time thinking about
When you look into a carpet or some patterned image and it swirls and changes shape. What is that? I heard that it's a sign of brain damage...
On a typical Friday night I am
I usually work really late on Friday, but I'm almost always out and about after that
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I don't recycle. Like, I just throw it away.. in the garbage. I know, it's a really shitty thing to do. I do mostly recycle though. I even have my own compost.

This doesn't really apply since moving to Cairo. The garbage situation is totally bizarre here.
You should message me if
If you want to knit me a sweater or show me how to knit.
If you grow your own vegetables and can make me an amazing fresh salad or show me cool gardening tricks.
If you speak Arabic and have the patience to teach me.
If you in any way resemble Fiona Apple.
If you want to do something fun or childish and need a partner in crime.
