My self-summary
Originally from NYC, I have been in the Bay Area long enough to know where the decent bagel shops are in the area. I am an energetic, intelligent, communicative guy with a good heart and a sense of whimsy. Sensible and responsible, people find they usually can depend on me. At 56 yr old, my youthful appearance, attitude and energy fools a lot people (although in “dog years”, I suppose I should be dead!), so for now, I think I’ll continue tossing those AARP advertisements in the trash. Somewhat a romantic, I think that “no reason” is often the best reason for flowers or some other small gift or gesture.

As I value kindness, intelligence and good communication skills, I hope to meet a woman who lives these qualities. A good sense of humor is a plus but she should at least be able to put up with my off-beat sense of humor. I relate best with women who are willing to put as much into making a relationship work as I try to. Romantic liaisons involve a little give and take and compromise, but it shouldn’t always be the same person who makes concessions. (That is surrender, not compromise.)

I enjoy the “usual suspects” that most do: movies, concerts, BBQs, traveling, as well as others not listed. While not a marathon biker or hiker, I do like to occasionally hop on the bicycle for a ride around town or a walk along a trail. But if going to a party, fine dining or a night in town is your speed, I am usually up for that as well. Adept in the kitchen, I can be trusted with handling sharp knives and hot surfaces without frantic calls to 911 or Poison Control.

If you think you might be someone who is looking for a “grown-up” relationship, but hasn’t lost that child-like sense of how to have fun and laugh at life’s little ironies, is someone who is well-balanced and (dare I say it?) “normal”, and would like to meet someone similarly minded, feel free to drop me a reply. If the “Internet Gods” are smiling on us, perhaps we’ll find each other.
What I’m doing with my life
I ask myself the three fundamental questions in life: "Who am I?", "Why am I here?", and "Where can I find available parking in downtown?"
I’m really good at
...avoiding answering questions about what I'm really good at.
The first things people usually notice about me
Warm, friendly eyes and a quick wit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I enjoy Carl Hiassen, Nelson DeMille, and a few others. I tend to avoid movies where a guy is being disembowled with a Bic pen, preferring comedies, drama, sci fi, etc. For music, I like jazz and and some older rock and pop. I like all kinds of cuisines-- it doesn't have to be cooked, but I insist that it at least be dead.
Six things I could never do without
Family, friends, chocolate, Italian food, good wine, and not being asked about six things I could never do without.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Is there really a good chance finding and meeting a kindred spirit via the Internet?
On a typical Friday night I am
sometimes out, sometimes in.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
almost every woman I've been seriously involved with, even when the relationship failed, improved me in one way or another. I figure by the time I'm 95, I'll be perfect.
You should message me if
you are sweet, pleasant, intelligent, compassionate, easy on the eyes, caring of others, smokes only when on fire, and doesn''t have a "Charles Manson for President" bumper sticker.
