I'm looking for someone to laugh with until it hurts--like can't breathe, tears streaming down our faces, ugly laughing.
I have caring and thoughtful friends and loving, drama-free family relationships. I'm also a gentleman (the open-the-door-for-you-and-hold-it-open-for-the-stranger-behind-you kind, but not the pull-out-your-chair-for-you kind).
I'm open about myself; I don't have any big secrets to hide, but I've also been described as a "tough nut to crack." And whether or not you think so yet, I'm a nut worth cracking.
I know from first hand experience that the first few minutes of Up! are not good to start watching before going out on a Friday night. That just-cried-your-eyes-out look isn't so hot out on the town.
I've lived in the Bay Area most of my life, except for a sojourn to Santa Barbara for "book learnin'." I studied English, because reading is sexy.
Usually, I don't mind waiting until movies come out on DVD.
I play board games. But only I win occasionally. I just bought a copy of Betrayal at House on the Hill. There's like 50 different scenarios that can play out, so it plays differently every time :) Not a big fan of games where you have to crush your opponent (Monopoly, Risk), but I'll play anything that takes some thought.
I'm a sci-fi geek. The Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson is rocking my world right now! Anathem by Neil Stephenson, House of Leaves, Palimpsest by Catherynne Valente, Neil Gaiman, HP Lovecraft, and too many more books to name.
Tunes! I am living off Tropicool mixes at the moment. Goldfrapp, Pretty Lights, Thievery Corp, Imogen Heap, Jamiroquai, Gladkill, etc. Pretty much anything mellow and electronic.
Movies! Serenity, because Mal and Zoe know it's a trap, Wes Anderson movies, The Fall, Forgetting Sarah Marshal. Generally for me, "blockbuster" equals "poorly written." That said, I enjoyed GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra more than I thought possible :P
TV shows: Pushing Daisies because of the whimsy, color, and Emerson Cod's snark, Avatar because Zuko had to learn things the hard way and boomerang does always come back, Firefly because intelligent writing and strong characters make 13 episodes stronger than many shows with a 100, Fringe because John Noble plays a nuanced mad scientist, Wonderfalls because you listen, and lots more. Pretty much scripted television in general.

hmm...nope, that about does it.
-that EL inverters are too loud, and wondering if fiber optics would be a better choice for making light-up clothing.
-you think I'm cute and you like what I've said. And I mean that. Don't message me to be polite or because you're bored.
-you don't mind sharing me. I'm not looking for a replacement girlfriend.
-you consider 144 characters to be highly restrictive. I'm looking at you too OKcupid phone app users.
-and on the off chance you're still reading: if you see actors from Battlestar Galactica on other shows and scream "s/he's a CYLON!" it wouldn't hurt to say hello ;)
