My self-summary
I grew up in rural North Carolina. Spent my childhood in a place where tall pine forests give way to flat expanses of green, and the farms are dotted with thoroughbreds and azaleas. And damn if I didn’t waste what could have been my prime BBQ-eating years as a vegetarian!

Probably like everyone, I’d like to date someone who is as brilliant and hilarious as my friends are. Someone with a biting wit which belies an underlying warmth and sweetness.

I am honest and it means a lot to me that the people I care about trust my word.

My politics are indeed progressive, but the hippies 'round here do try my patience. I like to call them hippie-crites ;)

Apparently since I downloaded the OKCupid app on my phone I am perpetually "online now".
What I’m doing with my life
I am an evolutionary biologist and used to get a huge kick out of showing spawning sea squirts to impressionable undergrads. These days I teach software engineering online for a company that makes careers in tech more accessible to, well, the globe. Thankfully I am still surrounded by impressionable interns ripe for indoctrination. I am also busy with ... planning my next bike tour, hot vinyasa with Laura Camp, bouldering at the Dawgpatch ...
I’m really good at
remembering faces and names, digging holes, listening, running fast

I am pretty good at whitewater kayaking and bake an especially moist chocolate cake with buttercream frosting.
The first things people usually notice about me
People seem to like my laugh, especially your mom.

how to show non-scientists how cool science is, the democratization of education, fuel-efficient luxury hatchbacks
