On this site, it would be great to meet other semi-like-minded, exceptionally kick-ass people.
FACT: I have an overkill 11 years of college culminating in 3 degrees in Social Science Education (with Psychology and Music minors), a B.S. in Zoology, and a J.D. in Law. So I know about a lot of things, but not nearly as much as I should.
FACT: Despite all that education, I am probably more of an idiot than you are.
FACT: To make matters worse, sometimes I even LOOK like an idiot because I'm terrible at matching colors due to red-green color deficiency, and ambidextrous traits further confusing my brain hemispheres.
FACTS: To further complicate things, I'm adopted. But now that I've met my birth family, I have discovered that a lot of my idiosyncracies make genetic sense, for better or for worse.
FACT: For the last 8 years, I've been working in a family business, among other things, but am now taking licensing exams to switch into a financial services career. Go figure.
Once in a while, I play tennis, ski, or air hockey.
Otherwise, I enjoy indulging the occasional absurdity, real or imagined. Like getting drunk at work. I don't really do that, but I might just pretend that I do, just for fun.
I am, and probably always will, try to unravel the conceptual strings of the human condition and restitch them into a designer garment. Wish me luck.
Ok, done -- here's a list... welcoming, warm, smart, talk a lot, ask too many questions, opinionated, serious, funny (sometimes), care about people, considerate, and a good host.
Some people say I look pretty young for my age, but the bits of gray in my hair give me away.
Food -- Foods from all over the world, food or restaurants I have not tried before. I also cook quite a lot on my own, sometimes experimenting with new recipes. I'm a pretty good cook, but don't always hit it out of the park. My birth mom sent me a very creative and clever collection of recipes from my birth family, so I have been busy trying to knock those 100 out. Sheesh!
Music -- I love music in general -- too much to specify anything here, really, and across genres. As long as it does something for me, I enjoy it. I AM picky, but I can still appreciate music others like and I don't. Music truly is a universal language, after all.
Movies -- I LOVE movies. Netflix is my friend. Some of my favorite movies are ones I can see many times and still get something new out of it: "Dr. Strangelove...", "Memento", "Spinal Tap", "Eyes Wide Shut", "Spun", "Junebug".
Books -- I have favorites, but these days I eat up a lot of time in practical reading, and searching for pop psychology articles on MSN, the news, or taking silly tests on this site. But since I read "useful" information all day long, it's nice to focus on a different medium when I get home, like movies.
And yes, sadly, I am one of the millions who will fail to publish a classic book (posthumously) that would be required reading in every English Lit. course. However, that book will not be discovered for some eons from now, when cockroaches survive the human race, and evolve language skill sufficient to study this prehistoric marvel of a previously lost, quasi-intelligent society. But my book will be discovered only after they eat my remains, and/or use it for fuel. Ahhhh, one can only dream.
And I know it's cliche, but yes, sometimes I meet up with friends.
