My self-summary
I've lived in Nashville for 20 years now. I came here for college and got a business degree. I briefly moved to Murfreesboro to get my Masters degree in psychology. I now live in Bellevue and work as a statistician in the health care field, which is about as interesting as it sounds.

My main hobby is swing dancing, especially lindy hop, charleston, blues, and balboa. I go dancing at several times a week and occasionally teach classes. I'm also on a performance team. I'm a big theatre fan and enjoy going to TPAC and other local shows. I'm also a bit of a movie buff and gamer, and I occasionally go to conventions.

So, here's the more serious stuff. I grew up Christian, but I've been an atheist for about a decade now. I don't have a problem with any who is religious, but don't try to convert me. I've been there and done that. I'm a very strong supporter of individual freedom and civil rights, especially LGBT rights. I used to prefer to stay out of politics, but unfortunately, the current administration has forced me to pay more attention to it. In short, if you support Trump, we're probably not going to get along very well.

I also have two cats. I like one of them.
What I’m doing with my life
I enjoy working where I do pretty well, so I intend to stay there for a while. However, I'm hoping to venture into some other side jobs, like adjunct teaching and getting involved in some non-profits.
I’m really good at
I'd like to think that I'm a pretty decent dancer, although I'm not as good as I'd like to be. I'm also pretty good at listening to people and helping them work through their issues. I like hearing other people's stories and knowing what's going on in their lives.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty laid back. I can be comfortable around anyone, regardless of how different they may be from me. I accept people as they are, so it's rare for someone to do something that bothers me. Truth be told, I'm also very quiet. I don't talk unless I really have something to say, and that's how most people remember me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I don't read nearly as much as I would like, mainly because of time. Right now, I'm working my way through The Dresden Files series.

I like movies of all kinds. I tend to gravitate towards science fiction, fantasy, thrillers, and the like, but a good movie is a good movie regardless of the genre. Some of my favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Requiem for a Dream, Moulin Rouge!, Office Space, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Big Fish, Stranger than Fiction, Donnie Darko, and pretty much all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.

My tastes in TV shows are similar to those of movies, although I prefer to wait until they come out on DVD or Netflix so I can marathon the series. My favorites are Lost, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly (pretty much everything by Joss Whedon), Doctor Who, Orphan Black, Breaking Bad, Orange Is the New Black, Scrubs, Stranger Things, American Horror Story, and all of the Marvel shows (Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, etc.).

I don't really have a certain style of music that I like. If a like a song, I listen to it. There really isn't a certain genre that stands out more than other. By nature of being a swing dancer, I probably listen to more jazz than anything else, but that's not necessarily because I like jazz more than other types of music.

When it comes to anything (movies, music, events, sometimes even people), I often enjoy things simply because they are unique, not necessarily because they're good. Because of that, I might have some things that I like just because they stand out as something different.

I love spicy food. REALLY spicy food. I'll admit to being a picky eater, but I'm still willing to try new types of cuisine.
Six things I could never do without
In no particular order:
1. Friendship
2. Dancing
3. Chocolate
4. A warm shower
5. Internet
6. Awesome movies
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My friends and my future, especially the things I want to accomplish in life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually dancing, but if there's no dance event going on, I'll probably be hanging out with some friends.
You should message me if
I've been using OKCupid for years, and I've met several people through the site. I have never dated any of them, but I have remained friends with them. Apparently, I'm better at using OKCupid to find friends than relationships, which is okay with me. If you just want to meet, hang out, and maybe learn a little about swing dancing, send me a message.
