My self-summary
Hi! Please forgive the slightly doofy profile picture.

I'm doing my best to not just be a good student or good employee but a good person. I love to learn and I try my best to keep an open mind, especially when it comes to things like politics and religion. I still have limits though. I strongly believe that racism, sexism, bigotry and homophobia are more than differences of opinion, they are a threat to the lives of human beings.

I'm studying biomedical sciences at GVSU, aiming to enter the master's program for Clinical Dietetics after I graduate. It feels a little weird being in college and being a couple years older than most of my classmates, but I don't regret the decisions I made. I wanted to be 100% serious and committed about the decision I made for college so I spent a few years working after high school to save up for it.

I strongly believe that it's ultimately not my place to say what I am and am not: anyone can say they're feminist, compassionate, empathetic, etc. It's how they behave and how they treat other people that says a lot more about whether or not they really are. Having said that, I would like to think that I display and act out the traits that I value.
What I’m doing with my life
Either taking classes or doing part-time work during the summer. In my free time I like to read, cook, play video games, all the usual stuff.
I’m really good at
Rambling! I try not to dominate conversations or get on my soapbox but I love to discuss stuff and explore new ideas.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm really tall! 6'5" to be precise, and sometimes come off as kind of intimidating by accident.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm really into early Chinese philosophy and Confucianism in particular. I know it sounds a little weird, but it's been a big positive influence on my life. I also love to read about history, and the way people used to live their daily lives.

I like lots of instrumental music for relaxing and studying, especially stuff like bossa nova. I'm also into experimental and unusual music like World's End Girlfriend. I don't watch much TV, to be honest.

I love all kinds of food, whether it's eating it, cooking it (even if I'm not that great at it), or just learning about it, and I'm always up to try new things. Chips and salsa are my go-to comfort food, though.
Six things I could never do without
My best friend Ben. We've been through a lot together and I wouldn't be the same person without him.

Audiobooks. Car trips and long lines haven't been the same ever since.

Learning. I know that's not really a single thing but I love to learn and understand the world around me bit by bit.

My parents. They've been so supportive of me as I figured out my life and I love them both dearly. (Does that count for two?)

A good, solid night's sleep.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Non-comprehensive list:

- How the Calvinist Protestant work ethic of West Michigan is all kinds of messed-up.
- Confucianism and socially-focused self-cultivation.
- The always-growing list of "stuff I'd like to write someday eventually probably"
- Having argument with myself (and losing).
On a typical Friday night I am
Talking to friends, cooking, reading. Recovering from oversleeping by accident. I like my weekends slow.
You should message me if
you like the cut of my jib.

I'll answer just about any question you care to ask, whether it's a personal question or something silly. I like to hear about other people's passions and goals so if you have something you're really into, feel free to ramble about it to me!
