In general, I have a vaguely bemused attitude towards everything that's going on around me. I'm usually lost in thought, thinking about random stuff that pops into my head. I'm also very curious about pretty much everything. This makes going to Wikipedia a dangerous activity for me... or, at least, a very time consuming one.
Literature: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is definitely one of my favorite books. I must have read through the whole series 4 or 5 times. Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land and various Lazarus Long novels are a must read too. Anything by Mercedes Lackey that takes place in Valdemar is going to be a good read. Recently, I read the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I could not put them down and finished the whole series in a week. I am currently attempting the Wheel of Times series by Robert Jordan, the first 10 books will be a re-read, but it's been a long time since I've read them.
Movies: Love the Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Almost all of my DVD collection is Sci-Fi/Fantasy movies. Everything from the complete Alien series to Van Helsing. I also have some adventure-ish movies like Indiana Jones. Some Action movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The One. And some Anime like Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Princess Mononoke. My comedy is pretty sparse. I lean toward the British comedy so I've got stuff like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Black Adder. But, I've also got Anchorman which I think is the quintessential Will Ferrell movie.
My music selection is also pretty eclectic. My parents were hippies, so I was brought up with significant exposure to classic rock. I've got a ton of Beatles and Doors albums and about 30 of those Time-Life classic rock disks. Alternative, Ska, Punk, 80s, Industrial, they all find places on my iTunes lists. Throw in some They Might be Giants for the randomness factor. I've created an alternative mix station on Spotify that includes The Fratellis, Kaiser Chiefs, OK Go, Grouplove, Bastille, The Black Keys, KONGOS, and the Bleachers, it's my favorite station at the moment.
In regards to food, I'm pretty adventurous. I'll try anything once. And if I don't like it, I'll try it again every few years. I've noticed there are a ton of things I used to hate when I was younger and since then I've tried them and realized they are delicious.
A computer with a high speed internet connection is also a must-have. Information is addictive, the more I get, the more I want, and the internet has any and all information whether or not it's true.
The utility of a cell phone makes it desirable too. The ability to contact anyone from almost any location is great.
