My self-summary
"We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time." - T.S. Eliot

Former soldier, future doctor, and currently an overworked medical student. It's been an interesting ride..

I've lived abroad a fair amount of time. Over that time I've learned that I feel most alive when I am out encountering new people, new cultures, new thoughts. I love traveling and seeing what life has to offer.

My work is important to me; I sacrificed a lot to get what I want and to be here. Consequently, it means a lot to meet someone who is passionate about their ideas, helping others, or seeking some larger dream they put their effort into. For me, it is wanting to help others through medicine, to be someone who makes a difference.

When I'm not studying or working, I'm as happy going hiking in the mountains as much as I am having drinks on the beach. A quiet night watching movies or a road trip to go explore...I'm interested in living for the moment when it takes you.

Life is for living, not wondering at what could have happened.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to make it a good one. Occasionally I try to hack my way through learning the viola, despite being hopelessly inept. Maybe starting a string instrument during anatomy/med school *wasn't* the best idea...
I’m really good at
Hard question to answer; I try to be capable at lots of things rather than a master of a few.
The first things people usually notice about me
I suppose you need to ask other people, eh?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A couple...

Far too many to list. I love reading. This has gotten to be a significant issue in that I can't find a place to *store* all my books (I wish I was joking).

Most documentaries. I don't have that much time for tv though. When I get down, watching nature shows makes me smile inside for some reason.

...and most grunge/alt or downbeat that comes on the radio.

Celtic music, blues/R&B, or classical when I want to chill out.

My grandmother's cooking (Hungarian)

Thai, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Ethiopian, Mediterranean/Middle Eastern

The best food is the food that's in front of you!
The six things I could never do without
Natural beauty, traveling, pets/animals, learning, good friends, and family (though they can drive me crazy). Not necessarily in that order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life and where I want it to go. If you don't know who you are or what you are looking for, how do you know you're going the right way?

The meaning of life. What is the purpose of existence, what do people believe and why? Etc.

Wishing I was out backpacking in Alaska, Acadia National Park, or the Kancamagus.
On a typical Friday night I am
Any of the following are likely:

Listening to downbeat/chill music and hanging out with friends.

Looking for the blue bird of happiness.

Working out because I love good food way too much.

Reflecting on the irony of having a headache whilst studying for an exam on migraines and headaches.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I say "Wicked awesome, y'all" occasionally to mess with folks.
You should message me if
You're someone who is outgoing, cares about helping others, and you want to do things in life...not watch other people do it. You want to have a hell of a lot of fun with someone along the way.

You're someone who wants a partner, an equal. You want something more out of life than a white picket fence and caring what everyone thinks...

Some ideas:

You see it as perfectly reasonable to say "@#$% it, we're buying cider doughnuts/maple sugar candy/homemade ice cream and taking a drive up to Kennebunkport/Boston/Portland/Montreal."

You would rather do something incredible on a weekend instead of watching a ball game on tv.

If I don't answer a message, I apologize. I don't like to be intentionally mean to anyone, but I am not always able to see things working out. This is in no way a reflection on you, just the situation I am in.
