My self-summary
Self-labeled nerd. I don't believe in "guilty pleasures." I like hearing about other people's passions.

Pretty into visual media and diving into the power of images. I like my movies like I like my cake - layered! (I also like bad jokes.)

Mix of indoor and outdoor kid. Kayaking and fishing are great, and I enjoy hiking and running. I recently went on a cage dive with blue sharks off the Cape, and it was the most amazing experience of my life.

90% of my brain space lately is reserved for politics, for various reasons (some pretty obvious right now). I read bills in my spare time, to see what my reps are voting for/against. I have been reading about the presidents, Supreme Court cases, and foundational political theory for the past eight months. I won't make you read any of my essays, but I might suggest that if you wanna hang out, you should be comfortable with talking politics. (I blame Lin-Manuel Miranda and Aaron Sorkin.)
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to enjoy it.

Reading and writing political essays.

Training for a half marathon.
I’m really good at
Making Ghostbusters references.

Staying up way too late looking up somewhat pointless information online.

Ignoring the word count on my word processor.
The first things people usually notice about me

Or my glasses.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Obviously, the following lists are way, way longer than the sampling here.

I read mostly nonfiction. Currently reading nonstop about the presidents.

Ghostbusters, Gojira, Mad Max: Fury Road, anything Edgar Wright does, Stanley Kubrick films (things with great structure, and gives me reason to re-watch them for something new)

Community, Parks & Rec, The Wire, Lady Dynamite, One Mississippi, Atlanta

Sufjan Stevens, Robyn, Talking Heads, Dizzy Gillespie, the Hamilton soundtrack, many things encompassing a diversity of genres

Y: The Last Man, Bitch Planet, Ms. Marvel, Gotham Central, Saga, Monstress

99% Invisible, Infinite Monkey Cage, The Weekly Planet, Serial, Keepin' It 1600, Do Go On
The six things I could never do without
Board/video games
The internet
Frozen yogurt
My kayak/lakes
A word processor
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why do people pronounce it "ree-cee's pee-cee's"? It already rhymes if you say it correctly!

How, after all this concussion nonsense, is the NFL still so damn popular?

Is Shark Week actually good for sharks?
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading about the Presidents.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Godzilla was the first thing I ever got nerdy about. I don't think I can talk anyone into suddenly liking it themselves, but I'm confident I can convince most people that they're actually more interesting films than they get credit for.
You should message me if
You want to get a drink or tea or something, or you have something you're super into that you love talking about and want to explain it to someone who probably doesn't know much about it, but will be excited and interested to hear about it.
