My self-summary
Creative type seeking similar.

I’m a graphic designer and writer by trade, an incidental instigator and misfit by fortune.

I like people who express their creativity, from music to writing to art to design to engineering to building to coding — any kind of creative way of expressing oneself. And with a good sense of humor to boot. A witty and sarcastic vein is a plus.

I'm a gentleman. I value sincerity and like people who are authentic, straight-forward, honest and don't play games. Drama is a bore.

I'm a townie. I like living and working and hanging out in the city, but enjoy ventures to rivers, mountains, beaches -- to get away from the usual.

I'm my own self, not really with the norm, and value people who are their own person.

I am a creative director at a software company now and spent years at an ad agency. I have a nice house ruled by a cat I rescued from downtown when he was a stray kitten. (I'm a dog person, too, and my kitteh's cool with that.)

I’m a mild Gamecock football fan, but I love to watch soccer anytime. I like most kinds of music, but I have only a vague inkling of current pop. NPR junkie, WUSC vagabond. I like to see good bands, love to dance, and will one day figure out the meaning of life.

I’m happy enjoying good times with good people drinking craft beer (or wine, gin, fancy cocktails) over great conversations -- with a tinge of inanity thrown-in just for kicks.

And sometimes the front porch or the couch bests a night out when it's time to chill and escape with a good book, a good movie or TV show, or marvelous music under a calm conversation into the wee hours.
What I’m doing with my life
See above summary, and in addition: I've taken-up landscaping the homestead and internal improvements as well. It's a slow process, believe me. Blah blah blah writing more than I used too, pick up my old guitar and play again, that kind of stuff. But always learning. Love to learn something new everyday.
I’m really good at
Daydreaming and dillydallying.

Checking the weather.

Inflecting Monty Python voices and interjecting with jokes that mostly only I find funny.

Programming a great play list for a compilation or party.

Thinking-up new ideas.

Listening and sharing my thoughts.

And making people laugh.
The first things people usually notice about me
My silly walk (I got a grant for it!). Kidding -- Monty Python moment there.

I guess my eyes, then chin. That I listen well and make conversation funny when it needs to be, and sincere when it's poignant.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Geez--Italo Calvino, John Irving, Jonathan Franzen, The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies of the Apocalypse… American Beauty, Amelie, Run Lola Run, Spotless Mind, Star Trek (yes), artsy indie/foreign flicks, Sense8, Stranger Things, Bloodline, Better Call Saul, X-files, Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, Six Feet Under, Dexter, The Killing, Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly (anyone know that?)

Podcasts: Welcome to Nightvale, How to Do Everything, Radio Lab, Serial

Music-- Jets to Brazil. Spot on one of my fave bands. I’ve been on an Underworld kick lately. I like trip-hop, trance, dnb, folk, jazz, some choral and classical, punk is fun too. Spacey drony stuff. Exotica, middle eastern, Indian. But I can't stand Chinese opera (sorry, tried that).

Food? Tasty. I’m an eater, not a foodie. Any food that's awesome, locally grown preferred.
Six things I could never do without
Art & Music
Friends & Family
Creativity & new ideas
Good pale ales/IPAs/Porters/Stouts and gin and fancy cocktails
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The next plans for my yard. Paint color combinations. Ongoing projects at work (you never know when a great idea will strike!). My purpose.

The hobgoblin in my crawlspace. (Not really.)
On a typical Friday night I am
At happy hour with friends, outside table preferred. Likely Art Bar later.
Unless there's an art opening or new movie at the Nic, or just a porch sitting to attend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a hobgoblin in my crawlspace. (Not really.)
You should message me if
You want to. Simples.

But please mind that I do not respond to messages quickly. I usually check OKC in the evening. And not every night. And sometimes I won't reply if I have no interest.
