My self-summary
I'm Dave. I moved to Las Vegas a couple years ago and I'm definitely looking to meet people and make friends. Meeting people outside of work hasn't been easy, and maybe OKC isn't the best place for it, but I'm trying it out.

I like to get out, go places I've never been before, learn how to do things, and/or have a story to tell afterward.

I'm honest, opinionated, and patient. I try to be approachable, but I'm on the introverted end of the spectrum. I am a geek though! That means if we find a topic of mutual interest, I can talk all day.

I'm laid-back for a geek, but don't be shocked if I would rather play a board game than watch a sporting event. They're fun to watch sometimes, but not really all that interesting.

That's it for the "I, I, I.."
Who are you? If you're reading this far, tell me about yourself; Don't just rate me. If I messaged you, don't just say I seem nice. I am nice; it's not news to me. :-)

If you're on here for a good reason, know that I am too, and I made this profile hoping to create a positive effect on my life. Give it a shot and I will do likewise.
What I’m doing with my life
I graduated from Purdue a few years ago and am now working in the space industry in Las Vegas! My career currently consists of fun and challenging engineering projects.

I read a lot, watch shows and movies for entertainment, and generally always work toward the next step, laughing all the way.
I’m really good at
Absorbing information
Thinking critically
Other things, maybe some that don't make me seem like a robot
The first things people usually notice about me
Hard to say, likely the blue eyes or sexy beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Fictional book: Pretty much impossible to pick just one. I would say that Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson (everything he writes is amazing) and Night Watch by Terry Pratchett are up there.

Movie: Shawshank Redemption, probably. I'm always up for a new movie or talking about movies. I catch every science fiction or Pixar movie in the theater, but otherwise it's pretty random. Suspense is my least favorite genre.

Show: Arrested Development, probably. I like a lot of comedy and watch pretty much all of the sci-fi shows, predictably.

Food: As a cuisine, Thai is awesome. As a single dish, an excellent steak can't be beaten.
Six things I could never do without
A place to call home
Games? Eh, not really, but I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...almost everything! Facets of this include movies, music, science, technology, politics, food, etc.

The future of the species, of myself, of my family, of my friends, of the nation.
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading, or spending time with friends. Maybe grabbing a drink, bowling, trying out a new restaurant, going to a show, or playing a game.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
...I'm afraid of people who operate without a consistent guiding philosophy, which is something I have no way to knowing for certain. To put it succinctly, I have trouble trusting people and worry about other people too much.
You should message me if
You are willing to talk on the phone or meet for coffee. I am not opposed to texting sometimes, but it is a much easier to gauge compatibility, not to mention get to know someone, with a real conversation. It's quick, it's easy, we both get experience breaking the ice, and you'll even get free coffee out of me. How about it?

You have some confidence in your intelligence.

You are happy, but strive for a better life.

You won't scoff at the idea that I would like to go to space someday. Bonus points if it sounds like the trip of a lifetime to you as well, or even if you know anything about the space industry; I'd be pleasantly surprised!
