My self-summary
I am much too complex to describe in a single paragraph, but what the heck I'm willing to try. I'm a techno-geek of the software variety. I have been very active in various on-line communities since the early 80s. I'm very tall (6 foot 8 inches) and the last time my book collection was measured 8 cubic meters. I'm married but separated, have 2 great kids, and it was my wife's suggestion that I sign up here. N.B. My wife and children live in town in their home, and I live in the hills overlooking Lake Austin.
I do spend a significant amount of time with my kids.

*laughs* You know you're a geek when you spot unit conversion errors on OkCupid and wonder how to report it. Height: 6' 8" (2.3m). No, I'm not 7'7", and yes I have reported it. Much better, they now have the decimal correctly placed.

One of my pet peeves is when an author confuses english with metric units. "He pulled out his 45 mm automatic pistol" Yah, right.

I am separated, poly, and kinky
What I’m doing with my life
I'm doing pretty much what I want to do. I've got two fabulous daughters. My health is doing quite well. In the past 8 months I've dropped 50 lbs, and am exercising 5 hours a week. This has been fantastic.

Favorite Quotes:

Take care of those you call your own And keep good company

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

I taught you everything you know. But I didn't teach you everything I know.

Grab their minds and their bodies will follow.
I’m really good at
Solving problems. Writing software. Taking care of my family and friends.
The first things people usually notice about me
Is my height.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
It is not possible to have a favorite book. I usually carry multiple unread books with me because I never know what I might want to read next. But I always want to be able to read something. I'm very much into Fantasy and Science Fiction, as well as technical and historical fiction and historical non-fiction, and alternative history.

Lois McMaster Bujold Everything. Jim Butcher: Codex Alera series, and The Dresden Files series. Bernard Cornwell: Sharpe series. Diana Gabaldon: Everything. Neil Gaiman: Laurell K. Hamilton: Everything. Robert Heinlein: Everything. Alan Moore: Elizabeth Moon: Everything. Patrick O'Brian: Aubrey & Maturin series. John Ringo: Pretty much everything. S.M. Stirling Everything. Andrew Vachss: Burke series.

And in the guily pleasure category. Newt Gingrich & William R. Forstchen. Their alternative history stories are actually quite good.
Six things I could never do without
-- My daughters: They keep me living, both figuratively and literally.

-- a good library: preferably mine, and I do lend books.

-- synthroid: Nine years ago my thyroid was removed with extreme prejudice and I will die a horrible death without my synthroid. So much for my post-apocalyptic daydreams.

-- darkest chocolate: I self medicate with chocolate.

-- my yard: Soaking in the hottub at 2:00 AM listening to the owls.

-- my mind: .
I spend a lot of time thinking about
... thinking.

No, really ... I did research in Artificial Intelligence for many years, and at times I've very introspective about how my brain is actually working.
On a typical Friday night I am
Home alone, or out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Hmm ... when 100,000+ people are intimately aware of your sexual interests its hard to consider much of anything private. I've been very active and open in many alternative sexuality communites both online and in the real world.

According to my profile, and pretty much anyone who knows me, I'm way non-agressive, very compassionate, extremely non-cruel, and extremely kinky. The translation is that I'm basically a service switch, and very good at it too. If you want to know what that means, feel free to ask.
You should message me if
... You like my personality or appearance .. while quick match can be interesting .. sometimes its just frustrating.

... You are curious about me or my thoughts, or even if you're just looking for someone to talk with.

... You have questions regarding the leather community in Austin.
