My self-summary
I'm a smart, fun, professional woman, full of contradictions...

I'm intelligent and believe strongly in life-long learning. I'm always trying to learn something new. I enjoy the intellectual stimulation of a good debate... physical chemistry is important to me, but so is intellectual chemistry. I like to be challenged, engaged, stretched… I tend to find intelligent men sexy. I also seem to be drawn to accents. I have a great career but it's not my life, and I make a conscious effort to ensure I make time for friends and family. My kids are pretty much grown now, so I also have time for someone special in my life. Are you at the same stage in life? Ready for something special?

I love the outdoors; camping, gardening, hiking, music festivals, canoeing... I'm not a winter person, although I can be talked into some outdoor activities if it's not bitterly cold. I would much rather be at a beach or in the hot tub at the ski lodge though, or in front of a fire with a glass of wine.

I also love dressing up for nights out on the town; wine, dinner, theatre, concerts... Dressing up for nights in is good too :-)

I know how to golf (poorly), shoot pool, read a river, drive a standard, and even throw horseshoes, although I haven't done that in a few years. I can refinish and upholster furniture & am a pretty good cook. I love entertaining, and my house is full of love and laughter. It's also full of 4-legged things - a kitten, a cat, and a 136 pound dog. If you have allergies I'm probably not the girl for you.

Ultimately I'm hoping to find a partner...a connection with some depth. I'm not interested in one-nighters, players or serial dating. Hoping to find someone who like me can't wait to delete their profile! I hear some people get addicted to the on-line thing, always looking for something better. That's not me, and hopefully isn't you either. Intelligent, authentic, compassionate...that's us! lol

If you think we may be a match, drop me a line.
What I’m doing with my life
Changing the world. Well, maybe not the world, but hopefully doing my part. Busy working, living, learning, loving. Would like to change that order someday soon!
I’m really good at
Writing. Gardening. Debating. Kissing. Mediating. Nurturing. Renovating. Creating. Ummm...lots of stuff!
The first things people usually notice about me
My shoes :-)
I would love to say my intelligence and wit, and maybe that's the case in certain situations. I'm not going to hold my breath on that one though. I'm more Marilyn Monroe than Twiggy, and the curves are hard to miss.
I'm told I have great legs, which is probably due to the fact that I wear heels often. And yes, I can run in heels if I need to.
My eyes - hazel and expressive. They turn mainly green when I'm very angry or excited. Some people love when my eyes turn green. Others not so much. Lol.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food is easy. I love Italian, French, Greek...I have an herb garden and love cooking with fresh savoury herbs. Love seafood, steak, red wine. I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but pretty much open to try anything else.

I like most music. My MP 3 player has Leonard Cohen, NIN, Bedouin Soundclash, Dylan, Marley, Streetlight Manifesto, Don't Climb the Pyramids, Manson, Violent Femmes, Supertramp, Reel Big Fish, Tea Party, Coltrane, Lou Dog, Ella Fitzgerald, the Kinks, the Dead Kennedys, Lana Del Ray... you get the picture. I like alternative, rock, blues, punk, ska and jazz...classical if I'm in the right mood. Pretty much anything except "twangy" country I can handle.

Shows - I got rid of satellite TV so I only have Netflix now. I really don't watch much TV until winter anyway. I like edgy shows - Breaking Bad, The Misfits, Californication, Dexter, Rescue Me, Nip Tuck (I would love to find some oldies like Picket Fences or St Elsewhere)... and comedies like Modern Family and Arrested Development. I'm all over the map with books; same with movies. I'm partial to psychological thrillers for both, although my favourite movie is still Baraka and I do like documentaries.

Books - I finally completed my Master's degree after years of part time study, so have a stack of non-academic books that I've been waiting to read.
The six things I could never do without
My kids (young adults now), friends, music, hugs, spring, books, art, beauty, rain, knowledge, compassion, passion, intimacy, water, connection, nature....
Only 6 is a silly rule.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where I want to travel to / planning my next vacation. Right now planning my garden :-)
On a typical Friday night I am
Honestly? Usually unwinding from the week. Trying to get the yard / house stuff done and out of the way so I can enjoy the rest of the weekend, although the occasional drinks after work on a Friday tends to happen.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm having way too much fun answering these questions! I also think the answers are much more telling than people's little blurbs / self perceptions.
You should message me if
You've actually read my profile and think we might hit it off.

Your message shows that you may have read my profile. I do try to respond to all thoughtful messages, but if you're just sending a "hi" or "you're sexy" you probably won't get a response.
