My self-summary
Newcastle > Sydney > other places around the world (usually America, but work all around Asia too)

I'm Aaron. Hella dreamy. Analytic. Creative. Empathetic. Aware. Appreciative. SMART. Convicted enough to use adjectives like this about myself.

Not a huge fan of The Gay Scene (not here in Oz, anyway) because ultimately I think it normalises some really damaged behaviours that are essentially just responses to rejection, and I find that really dull. Transcend, people - or at least TRY to, you know? Sheesh. I'm not perfect - at all - but I try to evolve, and to be good to myself, and (somewhat importantly in this context) to others.
What I’m doing with my life
A couple of years ago, I escaped inner-city Sydney and the dirty advertising job I had there, and now manage the marketing for the international division of a university up the coast - it's basically my job to attract international students, get our own to go off and explore, and develop global institutional partnerships. I enjoy it.

This means I work between two campuses, Newcastle and Sydney. But you'll also find me around the big ol' word of ours. I go to America a couple of times per year, and work a lot in Asia.

I'm also very active in creative projects outside of my main work. At the end of the day, I'm a writer. I also make music and DJ. And I've been lucky enough to be able to do all these professionally; but neither are they confined to my career. And while I have a pretty good job, I clash with people who hang their entire self worth upon their business card. I know a lot of successful people who are really quite painful, and I know a lot of waiters who are beautiful souls.
I’m really good at
Making nachos (like, REALLY good at it). And that bit in pub trivia where you have to guess the song they're playing.
The first things people usually notice about me
Judging on what people are prepared to give back to me... that I'm tall... my eyes are BLUE (because, you know, I've never realised?!)... and that I'm not afraid to say what I think.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music... Beach House are my favourite thing in the world. Also... Goldfrapp, Midlake, David Bowie, Marissa Nadler, Interpol, Billy Idol, Madonna, Lana Del Rey, Kasper Bjorke... I could go on for a really long time here. I have pretty broad tastes and really tend to be drawn to anything that makes me feel - or alternatively, that shows off what a better dancer I am than everyone else (I'm not joking).

Film... David Lynch is God. Other films I like... Best In Show, Basic Instinct, Donnie Darko, Dogville, Shame, Rocky Horror, the list goes on...

Books... I tend to read non-fiction. Though I recently put JK Rowling's "A Casual Vacancy" on my kindle and, much to my surprise, really loved it. I also have a long history with Sartre (although I haven't read him for years now), and I guess he was somewhere still in my subconscious when I tried to find an OK Cupid name nobody had used yet.

Food... I love anything Mexican (my favourite restaurant in the world is Mole in Chelsea... so good), a gourmet pizza, a German schnitzel drowning in cream, and espresso martinis. In no particular order.
The six things I could never do without
Creativity... the ocean... love... my cats... violins (they melt me).... and.... um.... rollercoasters.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking. About lots of things. And feeling. Thinking and feeling, really.
On a typical Friday night I am
Tired from work. But I'm lots of fun on Saturdays!
You should message me if
You want to.
