My self-summary
DISCLAIMER: Australian traveling abroad.

I'm Aaron. Hella dreamy. Analytic. Creative. Empathetic. Aware. Appreciative. SMART. Convicted enough to use adjectives like this about myself.

Not a huge fan of The Gay Scene (not here in Oz, anyway) because ultimately I think it normalises some really damaged behaviours that are essentially just responses to rejection, and I find that really dull. Transcend, people - or at least TRY to, you know? Sheesh. I'm not perfect - at all - but I try to evolve, and to be good to myself, and (somewhat importantly in this context) to others.
What I’m doing with my life
I have three degrees (communications, psychology and writing) because even though it's most certainly because I am someone who loves learning, it may also have been because I really liked being a student and when I was younger I wasn't sure how capitalism and I would ever be friends. Now I'm getting old. And I'm a senior marketing manager who wants to smash the system and import furniture simultaneously. I guess that means I worked it out, to some extent. But I still want to smash things - mostly the Patriarchy, and all the other things that are ultimately still about the Patriarchy. So, you know, I'm like totally woke as fuck. Please also be woke as fuck.

And while I have a good job now, I clash with people who hang their entire self worth upon their business card. I know a lot of successful people who are really quite painful, and I know a lot of waiters who are beautiful souls. I don't care about your job. Or your six pack. Just have a point of view.
I’m really good at
Making nachos (like, REALLY good at it). And that bit in pub trivia where you have to guess the song they're playing.
The first things people usually notice about me
Judging on what people are prepared to give back to me... that I'm tall... my eyes are BLUE (because, you know, I've never realised?!)... and that I'm not afraid to say what I think.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music... Beach House are my favourite thing in the world. Also... Goldfrapp, Angel Olsen, Midlake, David Bowie, Marissa Nadler, Madonna, Lana Del Rey, Kasper Bjorke... I could go on for a really long time here. I have pretty broad tastes and really tend to be drawn to anything that makes me feel - or alternatively, that shows off what a better dancer I am than everyone else (I'm not joking).

Film... David Lynch is God. Add Haneke and Von Trier, and you have the holy cinematic trinity. Films I like... Best In Show, Basic Instinct, Donnie Darko, Dogville, Shame, Nocturnal Animals, Rocky Horror, the list goes on...

Books... I tend to read non-fiction. Though I recently put JK Rowling's "A Casual Vacancy" on my kindle and, much to my surprise, really loved it. I also have a long history with Sartre (although I haven't read him for years now), and I guess he was somewhere still in my subconscious when I tried to find an OK Cupid name nobody had used yet.

Food... I love anything Mexican, a gourmet pizza, a German schnitzel drowning in cream, and espresso martinis. In no particular order.
Six things I could never do without
Creativity... the ocean... love... my cats... violins (they melt me).... and.... um.... rollercoasters.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time thinking. About lots of things. And feeling. Thinking and feeling, really.
On a typical Friday night I am
Tired. But I'm heaps of fun on Saturdays.
You should message me if
You want to. And you've got a brain that works introspectively.
