My self-summary
Hello,
I am a passionate, gregarious, athletic klutz. I'm unconventional, "weird, and eccentric"(quoted from my best friend). I'm a liberal and a socialist. I don't believe in god nor am I religious. I love to build and create.

I work hard in my career and volunteer as a leader in my union. I live in a small apartment because I have no need for excess space I barely use. I don't own a car because I see it as a luxury I rarely need.

Education is very important to me. I can often be verbose and sometimes I have no tact.

With that being said, I'm looking for someone who has similar beliefs. Someone kind and compassionate and may often be accused of being a dreamer. If you have your wits about you, love learning for the sake of it, and being funny, well, maybe we should talk.

My contest is only with myself, to do it right, with power and force, delight and gamble--Matt Dillon as C. Bukowski in Factotum(not a fan of Bukowski but I like this quote because it's how I like to approach my life.)

Inside every cynical person, is a disappointed idealist.--George Carlin

As much as I am a cynic, I still believe in hope and I am quite optimistic.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm back in school finishing a degree and earning a certificate in my field, but during the day I design and build things, mostly for the Collegiate Theater I work for, and some for myself. I teach students to build things. I also volunteer at my union as an executive board member.
I’m really good at
Doing my best at everything I do, But I excel at unintentionally alienating people, building things, driving, talking to people, problem solving, and creative thinking.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall, they never get my ethnicity correct, I'm weird, out going and very intelligent.

I was told recently that I go about my business the way someone my age should but I have the personality of someone younger.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: The Odyssey-all time favorite. Fahrenheit 451-scariest. Catcher in the Rye-the funniest.
The Fountainhead-favorite statement on individualism. Although, I don't agree with Rand's philosophy, I appreciate her comments about individualism. I love my individuality.

My favorite quote about books--"we need to make books cool again. If you go home with someone and they don't have books, don't f#ck them."--John Waters

Movies: comedies, Sci-fi, horror, foreign, documentaries, educational, classic.
The last three movies that caused me to have a visceral response were "The Dead Girl", "The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford", and "Melancholia."

TV:comedy, sci-fi, education, PBS, History, certain british shows, Whedon's

favorite comedians: Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Robin Williams. New comedians- Lewis Black, Patton Oswalt, Dave Chappell, Whitney Cummings, Sarah Silverman, Amy Schumer, Louis C.K.

food: pizza, cereal, yogurt, Michigan cottage cheese, lentils, ethnic foods, pie

Music I love dark and hard hitting. punk, new wave, 80s electro, disco/funk, folk/blue grass, power/dragon metal- favorite genres. cello and viola- favorite instruments. I can't quit listening to Future Islands right now. Little Dreamer is my current favorite.

LEGOs-favorite toy ever.

Scotch-alcohol of choice.
The six things I could never do without
books, coffee, knowledge, passion, comedy and laughter, intelligence
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The nature of the universe and our connection to it.
Theoretical physics
The state of being human.
How to make people laugh more without being obvious or cliched.
Greed-Why people still horde money and resources when we have an abundance of both and abundant access to both
Being a stand up comedian.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typically nothing. After working all week, I like to take the rest of the day to relax and unwind. I'm not big on hanging out in bars either. I just really like to do nothing on Fridays. This is not to say I won't do anything on Friday's, I just reject the notion of having to ascribe to the 9-5 work/life schedule.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm magic.
You should message me if
I know what I want, I am honest, almost to the point of being blunt(word play), and you might like that.

You are a straightforward, confident, intelligent woman and you think we can make each other laugh.

You like tall klutzy nerds who are adept at building things. We can share our interest in science and learning.
You read books

These things are a plus but aren't mandatory:

You're tall 5'9"-6'0".
You have freckles.
You are a comedian.
You are a scientist.
You don't own a dog. They're fine animals, I like them, but I don't want one as a pet.

Finally, you should message me if you're not one to hang out the passenger side of your best friend's ride tryin' to holler at me.
