My self-summary
I enjoy keeping active, checking out new restaurants, breweries, cities, and my social group has changed from having many acquaintances to hang out with, into hanging out with smaller groups of friends I am closer to, and have known for longer. I recently got a bicycle up and in ridable condition (thank you Broke Spoke, I was totally new at the time!) and rode it in the Tour de Cure in Louisville. I try to shoot up to Louisville and Cincinnatti when there isn't time for a longer vacation, to check out the art museums and see concerts. I do enjoy traveling, and even met a friend over in Europe this past summer.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a degree in sociology and philosophy from the University of Kentucky, and work in IT. I do miss the conversations from both disciplines! As far as interests are concerned, I am into music (spending time discovering new artists and seeing concerts), photography, and have been teaching myself how to use tools for graphic design (photoshop, indesign, illustrator), and plan on creating a website soon (never made one before, thought it would be cool to learn).
I’m really good at
Picking up five new hobbies at once, buying a bunch of stuff for all them, and then only focusing only one. Hey, but at least I do stuff, right?
The first things people usually notice about me
That I have my own style.. I think it's a good thing, haha.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: Largely a collection of alternative and indie - can always listen to the National.
Shows: Not a big TV person, but I do keep current on Game of Thrones, and House of Cards is next on my list.
Books: Do Android's Dream of Electric Sheep, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Brave New World, Island. Will probably enjoy anything which includes compelling characters, or noir style mystery and suspense.
Movies: Blade Runner, Shaun of the Dead, Solaris, The American, Michael Clayton, 28 Days Later, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Evil Dead, Office Space, Inception, Wall street. I like movies which include believable, yet creative worlds, the ones that you can't stop thinking about for days. Movies that are just fun are great too, no reason to be all intellectually serious all the time.
Food: Italian, Indian, Korean, Chinese, Thai, had Indonesian in Amsterdam - I'm pretty open when it comes to food.
Six things I could never do without
Caffeine, music, and.. the internet... judge away, I don't blame you, but I'm far past the shame of it now.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The 'where I want to be in five years' question form interviews and worrying about Donald Trump actually becoming president.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friends or working on a project. I'm taking a painting class at UK, and a digital painting class online.
You should message me if
..you're looking to meet new people, and have a few good stories.
