I'm a work in progress.... always learning and evolving. I am pretty sarcastic, passionate, open-minded (sometimes too open-minded for some people), easy-going, independent and adventurous. I'm like the girl next door with an edge. I tend to call things as I see them. I have a somewhat assertive personality, so I'd like to meet someone who is also assertive who is up for the challenge. I love live music, especially blues and the singer/songwriter type that sometimes gets classified as folk. I believe in giving back to the community, so I volunteer for several organizations. I enjoy photography. I am a big fan of spell check. I live a pretty drama-free life and my baggage fits into a cosmetic case with room to spare (and I'd like to keep it that way).
I'm looking for someone who enjoys the same things as I do but who has enough differences to open new worlds for me, as I would hope to do for him. I'd like someone who has the desire and opportunity to travel either on a weekend away or an exotic adventure afar. And lastly, I'd like to meet someone who is open to the possibility of exploring alternative lifestyles and breaking out of our comfort zone.
Why I'd make a good girlfriend:
-I have my own friends/interests so I wouldn't be expecting (or wanting) you to be with me 24/7. If you want to go to Vegas with your friends, I'd say go for it.
-I'm not a big sports fan, but I get it. I do enjoy going to games and will watch the Superbowl with you and have a good time (and I'm not loyal to any teams, so I'll root for the one you like). So if you want to spend every Sunday in the winter watching football, that's fine with me
-Though I don't really cook (yes, that could fall under why I would NOT make a good girlfriend), I am a pretty good baker
-I can usually be ready in under an hour (unless it includes packing - then all bets are off)
-I'm a good planner, but I'm also spontaneous
-I won't make you go shopping with me
-I'll never ask you if these jeans make my ass look fat (but if you are giving constructive criticism and tell me that they do, I won't cry)
-I've been told that I'm pretty low maintenance
-I'm always open to new experiences and am adventurous
-I'll never ask you to buy me feminine hygiene products
I find the "personality" tab interesting. Not very accurate, but interesting all the same.
hoping to find someone to go on that next vacation with
Books: I love to read. One of my favorite gadgets is my Nook/Kindle/ipad and I have it with me everywhere I go. I love books and music that resonate with me and leaves me thinking about them long after I've finished reading or listening. I'll read almost any genre, from history to a light chick beach read (yes, I did read 50 Shades), but it's usually the memoirs that stick with me. A couple books that stand out in my mind right now are Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson, Unbroken by Laura Hillebrand, He Comes Next by Ian Kerner (I recommend "She Comes First" for all you guys out there. There's always something new to learn!), Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts.
Music: Artists that rotate on my itunes the most are Paolo Nutini, Michael McDermott, Rob Thomas, Pete Yorn, Marc Broussard, Paloma Faith. Blues and singer/songwriter types can stop me dead sometimes. I also enjoy most music from the 60's, 70's, and classic rock. I love the soundtrack to Repo Men. My musical tastes are very eclectic. You could come into my office and hear Frank Sinatra one minute and Kid Rock the next. Every single time a Beatles song comes up on my itunes rotation, I'm always surprised by how amazing they are/were!
Movies: School of Rock, Pulp Fiction, Happy Feet, The Sweetest Thing
Shows: "The Book of Mormon" is the funniest show I've ever seen. "Hair" is a favorite." I love "Love" by Cirque de Soleil in Vegas. Any of those, I'd see again and again.
Oh - you mean TV shows? Real Time with Bill Maher, Walking Dead, Bob's Burgers, Drunk History
Food: I love Pig Candy and Sweet Riot Nibs # 65. Popcorn is a food group to me, as is chocolate (preferably dark). mmm did I mention bacon? love it! I don't like anything spicy or slimy but I can find something to eat at almost any restaurant
Why do so many guys have pics of themselves in public bathrooms? What inspired them to take a picture of themselves in a public bathroom? Don't they have friends to take a picture of them? Or a self-timer? Or a mirror at home?
I get easily sucked in to answering the OKC questions
I give away a lot in my answers
- you're at least 5'10" (that's a deal breaker)
- you are relatively normal on the outside, but once you scratch the surface there is a bit of deviance to you.
- you have a facial pic posted and at least one with no hat and/or sunglasses
-you're really interested in meeting and you're not going to become a sock in the dryer
- Manhattanites are preferred (but not mandatory) mainly due to proximity.
- you have something nice to say. I've encountered so many mean people on this site that were never taught by their mother that if they don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. When did manners go out the window? The internet does not give you the right to be mean.
-you are a real person whose profile matches your pics. I've encountered no less than a half dozen "catfish" on this site. I will check and maybe ask for more pics. If you're real, don't take it personally. Blame the assholes.
- I swoon for assertive non-snorers that are seat-giver-uppers on the subway.
- Please note that I don't have "Pen-Pal" listed as something I'm looking for. I don't prefer the weeks long messaging back and forth or long-distance "relationships." So, if after a couple days of messaging, let's bite the bullet and invest an hour of our time and meet. What have you got to lose?
I'm really bad at making a first move and most times I am awkward at sending that initial message (don't hold it against me, please!). So if I've rated you, think of that as a smile from across the internet abyss and take it as a sign of interest and if the feeling is mutual, drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you!
