My self-summary
If you don't mind, I'll dispense with the "I'm a nice guy looking for a nice girl" approach and try to actually put a little substance here. My name is Isaac. I work in the IT department of a fairly large company here in Memphis - no, it's not FedEx - although I've done my time like the one eighth of us have. I have a house in Cordova, occupied by myself, a dog, and a turtle.

I'm a social creature. I love nothing more than hanging out with a bunch of people, drinking coffee or booze, cracking jokes, shooting the shit on topics covering everything under the sun. From politics and current events to gaming and sci-fi. About the only things you won't hear me talk about is reality TV, country music and sports. I have an opinion about everything and will share at given the slightest opportunity. Breathing in my presence, for example, has been frequently counted an opportunity for these intents and purposes. And I'm always up for debate regarding that opinion as long as everyone keeps it peaceful - which, by the by, does not prevent one from being passionate and aggressive in trying to prove or defend their point.

I enjoy reading - mostly fiction, and here recently mostly of a didactic nature (think 1984, Picture of Dorian Grey, Starship Troopers, etc.). I do read some random fun stuff too, though, don't worry. And, of course, the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is my bible. Everything worth knowing can be found within those pages. I love movies, both at home and in theatres. Comedy, action, drama - in that order of preference. Additionally, while it's only been 4 weeks, I'm already completely hooked on Joss Whedon's new project Dollhouse. I'm a musician. I've been one in various forms since I was 5. My passion is the drums and percussion in general. I can pick out a couple of tunes on the guitar and my formal education comes from piano, but to be honest, I don't remember how to play one anymore. As for my tastes - symphonic rock, classic rock, blues, 80s hairbands, a little metal, some classical and a few select arie. I love concerts and going to bars for little live gigs - especially in Memphis where you're almost certain to hear some of the best blues in the world.

Still with me? Good. This next section, covering what it is I'm looking for, should be pretty short since I'm not very needy - or at least I don't think that I am. The girl for me is one who's blunt and forward. Somebody responsible enough to know when to throw caution to the wind and just have a good time, with and without me. I'm a very affectionate person and love physical intimacy. Casually brushing my arm as you walk by, a random hug, holding my hand, running your fingers through my hair, curling up in my lap or under my arm when we watch a movie, etc.. Those little things mean the world to me and mean the world coming from me. I'm a Sagittarius, and as such I need a fairly large degree of freedom, independence and spontaneity. I have a very strong sense of “oh... what the hell”, but enough brains to have stayed out of jail, bankruptcy and rehab. *knock on wood* The right girl for me will have to be OK with it.

So there you have it. A bit loquacious, but that's the outer layers of me. Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to discover what's beneath the surface I just described. As always, this profile will self-destruct in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...
What I’m doing with my life
As of late I seem to be maintaining status quo. But it's time for a change.
I’m really good at
I've been told several conflicting things that fit into this category. Get to know me, and form your own opinions.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've never asked anyone that. I've been told that the first impression I make is rather intimidating, More than once I've been described as intense. I'll take intense, don't get the intimidating thing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the books), The Death Gate Cycle. Pretty much anything by Gordon R. Dickson. Dan Brown novels. Random didactic fiction, The Usual Suspects, Firefly/Serenity, Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human just no name a few. Comedy, action, horror, drama - you name it, I'm probably willing to watch it. 80s rock, blues, Classic Rock and metal. 80s hair bands.
Six things I could never do without
Computers, coffee, exercise, friends, rock & roll, a weapon.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics. Exactly which party I'm going to tonight. What, exactly, was in MacArthur's pipe, and how can we get some of that stuff into Obama's Corn Flakes. Ways to prevent the immanentization of the eschaton.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably up at the hookah bar with people, smoking, joking, seeing what we can get away with and still claim plausible deniability. Then I usually head up to see my crew at The Edge. From there - goddess only knows. Typically the sun hits my house on Saturday morning long before I do.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The answer to any question you would think of asking.
You should message me if
You've actually made it this far into my profile.
