I believe that good manners and courtesy are not a stuffy formality or an expression of gender bias, but a way for me to express my affection and appreciation for someone.
I am curious about the world, have a thirst for knowledge, and read about a wide variety of subjects. I am a voracious reader. I value education and intelligence highly and hope to be seen as well rounded and erudite.
I am a lover of companion animals. I love dogs and they love me too! Cats also love me! They come to cuddle with me while I am reading or watching television. My sister has called me "The Cat Whisperer." I am descended from a long-line of animal lovers and my sister is a small animal veterinarian. I understand the bond. I believe that companion animals are a necessary requirement for my happiness. As a child, I lived on a dairy farm and gained experience, and appreciation for, large animals. I currently have one American Toy Terrier and we come as a set.
I am Half-Dutch and believe that I think more like a European than an American. I certainly don't have an isolationist or an "America First!" attitude. I believe that I am global-thinking and believe that what we do has consequences for people who live in other nations.
I am an omnivore, but I believe that it is important to buy organically-produced dairy products, eggs, meat, and produce. I know where vegetarians and vegans are coming from and I appreciate the reasons why they might not want to eat meat or animal-derived protein. I believe it is important to make the extra effort to be an ethical omnivore.
I believe that Monsanto and Goldman Sachs are evil set to 11.
I am very much a Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Christopher Hitchens style New Atheist. Though I do regret and disagree with the comments made by Richard Dawkins concerning women. Not cool, Richard.

American Film Institute's 100 Years...100 Movies list. I believe that the Marx Brothers and WC Fields are the funniest people who ever lived. I frequently watch films on Turner Classic Movies.

Trek" also known as "Bad Robot Trek." I am looking forward to seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
I own many of these movies and television series on DVD and I am starting to collect them on BluRay. I also own many of the art books, technical manuals, cross-section books, and blueprints of the fantasy vehicles created for these movies and television series and I like to read them sometimes to relax. I presume that you have absolutely no interest in this sort of thing, but hope you will be tolerant of this interest. I am also a fan of True Blood, Let the Right One In and Being Human (UK). I don't care too much for Harry Potter, sparkly vampires, or zombie survival horror.
I am a fan of British television sitcoms. I especially love to watch the surreal and satirical ones and I am a big fan of Monty Python's Flying Circus, the Black Adder saga, The League of Gentlemen, Fawlty Towers, Red Dwarf, Father Ted, Little Britain, Doc Martin, Come Fly with Me, Hyperdrive, and The IT Crowd. I am active in the Whatcom County Pathfinder Society which is a club devoted to the Pathfinder table-top role-playing game. It's a fun social activity for me and it is played with dice with more than six sides.
I am interested in experiencing more of the world's cuisines and I am willing to set aside my prejudices to try any food once, even toasted insects if he were to travel to Thailand or snake meat while visiting Hong Kong. Just don't expect me swallow if I don't like something. I especially enjoy food that is spicy and I am very interested in experiencing new flavors and textures. I am likely to invite you to join me at an ethnic restaurant on a date. I currently like Thai, Indian, Italian, Ethiopian, Greek, Vietnamese, Lebanese, Japanese (including sushi), and Mexican cuisines and seafood. Though I confess I cannot resist a good burger.
I am not a fan of typical breakfast foods and will only eat them if the alternative is starvation. My favorite way to break the fast is dim sum in Seattle's International District. Knock yourself out if you enjoy eating eggs, bacon, and pancakes, but please do not be offended if I choose not to join you.
I am a beer snob and enjoy ales and stouts, especially the malty ones. I am starting to appreciate and sample wines. I typically prefer them red and drier. I have also recently developed a taste for single-malt Scotch whisky.
I believe that coffee is one of the major food groups. The Food Pyramid needs to be updated. Sorry, but I don't much like teas.
