I'm a news\politics junkie. Not exaggerating! I follow news in every region of the world on a daily basis (i al jazeera, bbc, nyt, etc, ie whatever it takes). I used to be able to swim a mile in under 40 minutes (am trying to get that back; fellow swimmers out there?) and can assemble a tent in less than five. I listen to NPR and podcasts of sunday political talk shows. I've been in several a capella groups (baritone). I’m a VERY curious person. I love language, travel, and meeting new people (I talk to EVERYONE: waiter, taxi driver, elevator attendant, secretaries, etc). I am the person who, by the end of my cab ride, knows what country the driver is from, how long he’s (it’s almost always a he) lived in the States, how many kids he has, when was the last time he visited his home country, and what he thinks of the political situation back home in Pakistan\Kenya\Ethiopia. I speak fluent Hebrew (learned it in school in NYC, blv it or not) and pretty decent Spanish as well as a [very] poor man’s Yiddish, and would love to learn more languages (thinking about French or Italian). Some of my favorite places in the world are the Alps in the summer, Italian coastal villages, anywhere in Israel, and the great American Southwest. I’m very active physically. I like camping, hiking, and cycling. I rode my bike across the US three summers ago (took 10 weeks) and road my bike to Virginia three weeks ago (took 6 days)! I'm trying to become a runner (central park!). and I'm hoping to get back into indoor soccer soon (want to join?!).
Please be intellectually-curious! PLEASE! Let's dive into deep conversations about politics, religion, gender, art, science, etc. I can be silly, but what I really thrive on is intellectual stimulation; it's my drug. I gotta have it! So....if you are a professor, a scientist, a policy wonk, a foreign service officer, a journalist, an M&A attorney, or, yes, even a fellow M.D.(!), definitely plz write!
If you speak more than one language, love shmoozing about politics and world events, and are kind to people, I will be putty in your hands!
