My self-summary
(Only in Seattle temporarily, though I'm sure I'll want to stay)

I'm your friendly neighborhood single successful guy, looking to find someone to share life and its adventures.

I'm very happy to be an ex-lawyer. It wasn't for me, but helped me acquire skills that help me in my career now.

I'm renovating my house, so if you're good with interior design, I'm not averse to opinions on my choices.

I'm looking for someone interested in having a family eventually. Though I'm not elitist I tend to be attracted to bright and educated women.

I'm a geek/nerd (as you can probably guess if you reach the section about my favorites).
What I’m doing with my life
I switched careers 2 years ago and I finally love what I do for a living. It involves poking my head into people's private lives, writing about it, and occasionally helping to catch criminals.

I am a recent first time homeowner. I am fixing up said home. It finally seems like I'm making progress

Otherwise, I'm reading, playing board games with friends, playing video games with friends, swimming or watching TV. Sometimes I go out and do stuff too, like go to comedy clubs. Sometimes I also have people over for bbqs and the like.
I’m really good at
Not League of Legends.

I'm good at taking jokes over the line of appropriateness... Though usually only around people who know me.

*Note - I used to be really good at resisting the urge to adopt a pup, this is fading fast.

I'm good at arguing but I don't particularly like to.
The first things people usually notice about me
Beard. Eyes. The subtle impression that I'm singing The Humpty Dance to myself every time no one is watching.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Impossible to list it all without this being huge, but here's a few samples from each area:

Books: "Good Omens" is probably my favorite book. Anything by Gaiman, Vonnegut, Steven Brust, William Gibson, Lois McMaster Bujold or Brandon Sanderson. I'm all over the place, but mostly read fiction.

Recent good reads:
The Dresden Files (the whole series... I got on a bit of a roll there);
The Bands of Mourning;
Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen;
Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era;
Between the World and Me

Movies: Comedies are generally my favorites, but A Few Good Men, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Big Fish, Tombstone, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Star Wars are some faves.

TV (All time): Coupling (UK), Firefly, Pushing Daisies, The Simpsons, BSG (remake), West Wing; (Whedon, Fuller, Sorkin)

Music: I'll listen to just about anything, but Social Distortion, Weezer, Bad Religion, Rise Against, Jamiroquai, and Me First & The Gimme Gimmes are some that I can listen to at just about any time.

Food: Spicy tuna rolls, NY strip steak. I like to try new things, though I did not try (nor did I come across, actually) the rancid shark meat on my trip to Iceland. I love cooking/grilling, and my new kitchen (and back yard + grill) have made this a lot easier.

I generally lean towards geeky/nerdy stuff, but have a pretty wide range of interests.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order: My Friends, My Family, Books, Pie, stuff, things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Pie. National politics (I'm feeling the Bern). Han Dynasty's DanDan Noodles.
On a typical Friday night I am
...pretty tired by the end of the week, but willing to power through as long as there is good company. Usually take it pretty easy at home or with friends. Dinner and a movie or board games.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I sometimes want to hang out with the dogs of people I see on this site more than their owners.
You should message me if
You have an appreciation for the absurd. You like what you've read and want to know more about me.
