My self-summary
Hello all. :)

So this is where I'm supposed to give you a description of myself. Well, I can try and give you the basics, but I have to say that I believe that once one gets to know another person better, it is for both to find out what the other person is like. I find that to be more interesting than just trying to summarize everything, because learning about the other person never gets boring. But anyways, here's a few very general things:
I've been living in DC for a few years now, but recently I moved back to my home country. I am finishing up work on my Ph.D. (almost done!), and after that I hope to pursue an academic career. I love to meet new and inspiring people, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm out every night. I value quality rather than quantity. I enjoy listening to music (it depends on the genre, though), and I also play myself. I also enjoy reading, cooking, baking, hanging out with friends, exploring sights, museums, and other interesting spots. For my free time, I usually don't have a specific concept; I'm up for almost everything that sounds like fun, like watching a movie (together with friends or alone, although together with friends is more fun), spending quality time with friends, talking about random things, going for a walk or to the zoo, deep and meaningful conversations ... you name it, and who knows, I might say yes. I love to travel (as far as money and time allow) and have been to a few places; I'd love to go to new places as well as go back to places where I've been and which I liked.

I believe that, although email is a great advantage of our era, there are some times and seasons that call for an old-fashioned, handwritten letter. I don't mean to downgrade email, and I'm not saying that I'm opposed to it. But I think it's nice every once in a while to write a letter to someone you like, and of course, likewise to get a letter from such a person.

I would say that I have a great sense of humor and can find something funny in almost every situation. It's usually a dry kind of humor, sometimes sarcastic, sometimes just ironic. I love wordplays.

So much for the general picture. You want to know more, drop me a line.
What I’m doing with my life
working in a hospital
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know, I've never asked them.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: anything as long as I find it interesting, really there's no general concept here. And it changes, too.

Movies: I won't give you the entire list, so instead of trying to name them all and still forgetting half of them, I'm going to name only a few, in no particular order: James Bond 007, The Holiday, Notting Hill, the Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum, Ocean's Eleven/Twelve/Thirteen ... I like comedies (including romantic comedies) and action stuff. If you want to know more, just ask.

Music: That depends and changes, too. For instance, last year I probably would have listed stuff here that by now, i don't even listen to any more. But to give you an idea: I like Italian pop such as Eros Ramazzotti and Laura Pausini; I like jazz, too, and both the "old stuff" as well as some modern day remakes (Michael Bublé etc.). I like anything that sounds cool, is not too disharmonious, and allows you to sing along or fly away into your dreamworld. I don't like the all too loud and noisy stuff.

Food: ... which I have prepared myself, or together with friends. Except liver and seafood.
The six things I could never do without
Let's see ... it says "things," so that pretty much rules out people and animals, right? Well, then: I consider myself to be a undemanding and modest person, so there's probably not much that I "could never do without" ... but if I must name a few things, they would probably be: some means of transportation, a "project" that keeps me occupied, some time for myself, a good book, ... (why six? this is so random ...)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
... a lot of things. Some of them are substantial, some are random. =)
On a typical Friday night I am
... keeping it low, going out with friends to do something we planned on very short notice, staying in, going to bed early in an attempt to catch up on my sleep deprivation ... seriously though, there is no "typical" Friday night. On Friday, I'm usually done for the week and glad that I have a weekend with less responsibilities, work, tasks, etc. ahead of me ... or so I hope ... I don't go crazy on Friday nights. Sometimes I just spend the evening relaxing, watching a movie, etc.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
None. This is the internet.
You should message me if
you want to. Oh, and also, if you don't belong to that group of people who lie or deceive others, because they can't be my friends. Never.

I'm also very shy, so if you're making the first move and message me, that's a huge bonus. ;-) That being said, if I happen to be online while you're looking at my profile, you can also use the IM thingy. It's not the greatest IM feature, granted, but I promise I won't sign off the instant I get your IM and then blame it on technical difficulties later on. :P

Please message me only if you've read my profile. – Just telling me that you think my profile is interesting probably doesn't qualify as having read it; if you read something that you found interesting, why not tell me specifically what it is? :)
