My self-summary
I'm Dr Andy. (yes, it's not just "Andy", but "Dr Andy". there's a reason for this, and it matters. i don't hate people who forget my name, but you score extra points if you get it right when introducing me...)

I own a sound/light/video company in the Philadelphia area. I read and watch a lot of films/movies, and enjoy a healthy measure of sarcasm and snark. I can engineer a technological solution to just about anything, and I love my job.

I barely sleep, I barely eat, and I have a mental disorder which causes me to believe that I'm a 12-foot-tall polar bear. (seriously, who wouldn't want to live on a glacier and eat whales?)

I am also known to others as:
- The Unsleep
- The Omnicryptic
- The Lord Dr Andy (this is purely ego-flattery, please feel free to ignore it, or mock me soundly)
- Clarence Beeks, of Lindhurst Security

I endeavor every day to unabashedly be a responsible adult who embodies a cultural 'Bad Boy,' yet subversively recasts the 'badness' into a unique character which is all my own.
What I’m doing with my life
You can generally find me designing or installing commercial sound and video systems for local restaurants, bars, schools, houses of worship, and concert venues. On nights and weekends, I DJ in the Philadelphia area and run sound/video for concerts, conventions, and conference events. You've probably seen me at Dracula's Ball, Monster Mania, Wicked Faire, Dorian's Parlor, DJ'ing at random bars...

I recently launched my own line of upper-middle-end cables for microphones, instruments, and other sound gear. I'm a bit of a closet "wire nerd", and actually get excited reading about things like capacitance. I make the greatest guitar cable in the world, and I'm not ashamed to say it!

I'm a practicing Discordian, spreading the good and chaotic word of Eris wherever I go. In my spare time I read quantum physics texts, watch zombie movies, and pet my cat.
I’m really good at
I can keep a crowd entertained, and tell a story well. In a previous age I'd have had a lucrative career as a wandering bard. I don't call myself a musician, but I have enough skill with a guitar to accomplish the aforementioned entertainment.

I'm also quite adept with sound systems and production. Whether it's in a home-theater, a professional stage, or a club, I can work the system and improve it.

The first things people usually notice about me
I've got decently long (and asymmetrical) hair, and I tend to be somewhat unpredictable in conversation.

Also, more often than not I'm surrounded by expensive-looking digital equipment, with lots of flashing lights and flickering screens.
Six things I could never do without
Movies, a good book, something new to learn, the Principia Discordia, my DROID, and Interesting Times.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Flightless waterfowl.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm not at a gig, relaxed in front of my laptop, wasting time. Possibly reading, or matching a movie.

If I'm working, I'll be running around patching a sound or video system for a band or DJ.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm rather broken, these days. I'm afraid to date, because if it turns out I really like someone, I'll most likely fuck it up somehow. That doesn't mean I won't overcome that fear, given the right circumstance, but it bears mentioning.
You should message me if
... you like music or music technology, if you like to read or talk about books, if you love movies (especially bad horror movies) with a passion, or if you've an interest in physics or evolutionary neuropsychology.

Or also, if you just plain want to say Hello.

My AIM handle is "DocMordrid".
