My self-summary
Originally from Colorado but lived a few other places before landing in California. I've been the Bay for almost three years now! Not sure it's my final spot but really enjoying it for now. Spend a lot of my time outdoors (hiking, biking, triathloning etc.) When I'm not out and Weekend Warrioring I may be lazing about with friends at Lake Merritt, eating food-truck food, drinking a flight of local brew, playing board games, on the town in SF, or Netflixing.

I've been known to complain about the lack of 'real' mountains. I'm an environmentalist. I'll talk sci fi fiction happily. I'm always up for an intellectual debate. Love the city lights and equally the dark starry nights.

Things I'd enjoy talking with you about: I have traveled abroad a lot (relative term) and can listen to travel stories for ages. Just finished a through hike of the John Muir Trail this summer so sorry if the photos are a little lopsided-I love the back-country but I do other things I swear!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a city planner. What does this mean? It means I work for local governments trying help them plan for saving energy, making sure we have water supply in the next century, can breathe, and generally survive and enjoy life in the city (and the country) in the decades to come. Is it like Sim City? Sort of, but without the big attacking flying robots.
I’m really good at
I'm the best at nothing, decent at a lot of things. Swimming, biking, running, art (ceramics, painting, drawing), writing, rafting, surviving in the wilderness.

I think my friends and family would say I'm a loyal, trustworthy, fun friend.

I can cook you a mean thai curry or Indian masala.
The first things people usually notice about me
maybe my freckles.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
When I read, its mostly novels. Among my favorites: 100 years of Solitude, Watership Down, Catch 22, The Giver, Inherit the Wind.

I'm not a very adept music officianado but generally like a range from alternative rock to rap to tropic house. Maybe you can introduce me to new artists and venues?

Movies: the kind with plots, or pretty places, or amazing adventures and human endeavors

Fave TV shows of all time: Westwing, Firefly, Friends, Madmen.

I'm a big fan of 'ethnic' food (I think that means anything that's not a burger, hot dog, BBQ or sandwich, and contains spices). Especially love Indian and Thai. I like to try new things--I even tried guinea pig and rat during travels!
The six things I could never do without
Sunshine (seriously, grey days make me sad and 80F always puts a smile on my face)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to not waste the good moments in life. Difference between a canyon and a valley. How to make cheese. What I'm going to cook tonight. If we were better off hundreds of years ago before all this digital age craziness descended upon us
On a typical Friday night I am
I like a healthy mix. I spend a good number of Fridays chilling with the good ol' friends cooking a baller meal, drinking wine, or playing board games, but I also like to get out on the town (good beer, lots of laughing, meeting new people, and, if I'm in the mood, a little dancing) or get out of town (toward mountains, north or east)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I co-wrote a fantasy novel with my sister. Its 300+ pages.
You should message me if
You're into a good conversation, maybe some friendly debate, and are into meeting new people.
You like outdoors activities, and want to share it with someone who loves them too.
Also, as beautiful as the OKC interface is, I'd rather figure out if there's a jive and then talk to a real person.
