My self-summary
I'm equal parts geek, hipster and artist. I probably fall somewhere between introvert and extrovert.... I'm generally quite quiet and reserved around people I don't know, while my friends and colleagues would describe me as being quite eccentric and passionate.

I'm not into sport or cars or getting drunk at all. I'm not a typical blokey manly man.
What I’m doing with my life
I teach animation/art. Film/animation/art is something I take very seriously. I tend to talk about stuff like this a lot. Once you get me started... I find it hard to stop...

My job can be pretty intense. There's a lot of people involved, not just students but staff that I care a lot about and I try to keep people happy wherever possible.

I've also been educating myself politically over the last couple of years and it's another thing I struggle to shut up about.
I’m really good at
I'm pretty good at art/animation... good enough to teach it at least. Apparently I'm also really good at Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The first things people usually notice about me
A lot of my artist friends caricature me with a big wide grin so I guess that?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My taste in film has changed a lot over the last couple of years. I've been watching a lot of older classics... my favourite era of cinema right now is the 40's and 50's. I would rather watch a film that is technically a bit limited but aims to deepen my understanding of social reality.

I also like a lot of dumb schlock too and weird pretentious art films but those aren't as important to me obviously...

As far as music goes, I listen to a lot electronic stuff... mainly ambient (like Aphex Twin's early work, Brian Eno's Music for Airports) and also I've been getting into jazz quite a lot recently... Davis, Coltrane, Hancock, Monk...
Six things I could never do without
1) My friends and family
2) My cat
3) Animation
4) Music
5) The internet
6) Sleep (although I've frequently had to do without it)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Films and animations and music and even videogames I'd like to make. I think I'm slowly getting back into actually making stuff which is good.... it's a bit hard to balance that out with teaching.

I also think about social inequality, and how this problem can be solved. It's a tough world out there and I have a lot of sympathy for those on the lower end of the social spectrum.
On a typical Friday night I am
Fridays I'm usually reeeeal sleepy these days. So not a lot.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have really stretchy ear lobes. FACT.
You should message me if
...you want to.
