My self-summary
I've been in Los Angeles for 8 years now after living in the Bay Area for the previous 6 (San Diego and Boston before that). I'd go into what brought me down here, but what better way to kick off a get-to-know-each-other conversation? I have degrees in Genetics and Philosophy, and yet I work for a music and film label where I couldn't be happier. How did that happen? Looks like another great topic! Those two are freebies... the rest you'll have to put some effort into.

In my free time, I bike around as much as possible, enjoy live music at small venues, buy too many used records at Amoeba, host group movie nights, try new restaurants and bars, travel whenever I can find the time (whether it be a local day trip or an across-the-globe adventure), visit farmers' markets and cook often, and generally try and explore every nook of this expansive and endlessly fascinating city.
What I’m doing with my life
I believe it's essential to live in and enjoy the present as much as possible. To that end, I'm thankful for doing work that I love, having terrific friends and making the most of each day. Even if that means spending one of those days eating a block of cheese on the couch while watching Punky Brewster reruns.
I’m really good at
...listening to that band you recommend, making custom mix-tapes, blending delicious smoothies, biking, skiing, finding humor in life's absurdity, following through on plans, and making lists.

I'm getting better at... cooking, playing guitar, and not succumbing to procrastination.

If you couldn't tell, I'm not great at narrowing things down.
The six things I could never do without
(1) My ever-growing wall of music, movies and literature, (2) someone with whom to have both deep discussions and conversations about nothing, (3) a constant sense of awe with regard to most of the world, (4) a mind with an abundance of rationality and tolerance, (5) the knowledge that others with the same exist, (6) and this little plastic DeLorean I got at Burger King when I was 8. (I haven't been back in almost 20 years.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...why the word "defenestration" needed to come into existence. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it, but I find it peculiar that people were getting thrown out of windows so frequently that a word needed to be crafted to shorten that phrase.
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't discriminate; I spend Friday nights in the same manner I would any other day of the week... going out to listen to live music? Grabbing a bite and/or drink with some friends? Staying in for a movie or listening to music for hours on end? If you'd like to join in any of the aforementioned excitement, feel free to submit an application, and I shall take it under advisement.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm very much an open book, but there's a difference between happily answering questions and openly divulging things without being prompted.

How about this... I had my first cup of coffee only a few months ago at the age of 32 (I'm writing this as of August 2016). I can already tell things are going to get exciting.
You should message me if
...you find my life vaguely interesting, you were irked by my ending a sentence in a preposition, or just for no reason at all. I won't interrogate you as to your intentions, and I don't bite... at least not too hard.
