My self-summary
To reiterate what is stated below, please read Guy McPherson's blog post, "Climate-change summary and update," (or any of his posts, for that matter...his blog is called Nature Bats Last) before contacting me. I'm looking for someone who is PAYING ATTENTION, and would like to spend her waning years with someone who is doing the same.

This MIdden Earth

In heat, the melting ice of glaciers
slipping ever quicker to the sea
as if they yearned, also, for the pleasures
of annihilation. Could you be
my little Nina, sending painful tempests
to the parched and fire swept hills of Eden?

Rising tides, ocean breakers kissing
at the feet of cliffs standing a thousand
years in lonely isolation. And here I, missing
my life and those of a hundred generations,
heard nature’s truth: empty nests,
and all those wings unbeaten.

In the running cracks, in the hollows,
across widening plains and pillows,
silent warming earth pursues and fallows,
it dries the tears of willows,
’til all the tumbling turning rests,
and all the joyous hills are turned to midden.

Learning is a bitch, aint it? Never stops, if you're paying any attention at all. My friend Jorge said to me: "You have to let everyone follow their own path, especially yourself." Not unlike, who-is-it...Sam Keen?..."Follow your bliss!" To sacrifice any of your dream, in order to give someone else what they want, is not sustainable.

My dream is sustainability...not just of spiritual self, but of corporeal self: sustainable agriculture, sustainable energy systems, sustainable home and hearth, starting with myself directly...really to shovel my own sh*t...all of it.

I'm looking for a partner in that project, someone who is ready to take on the burden of their own existence, not to farm it out to corporations or governments, not to pile it, along with seven billion others, on the systematic extraction of non-renewable resources.

Just to be clear, this project will require hard work...I mean, actual physical exertion, sweating even, getting dirty... I can understand if you are not up for that. But that is where I'm going, and if you're not ready to go there, why would we be going together?

Please read Guy McPherson's blog post, "Climate-change summary and update," (his blog is called Nature Bats Last) before contacting me. You needn't agree with him that we are facing near term human extinction, but it might help you understand why I agree with him that subsistence farming is the only morally defensible lifestyle, other than hunting & gathering.

Be present, enact compassion.
As you do unto others, so you do unto yourself.
