My self-summary
I spend my Saturdays with tea and The Economist, and my evenings with smoky scotch and live music or theater. I went to some of the best universities in the world, but then I started a business that has nothing to do with what I learned in school.

My academic background was in international development, and I still carry a burning desire to make a difference in the world. I wrote and told a Moth story onstage to help get Hillary elected. Surprisingly, it turns out that wasn't enough! But I did what I could and will do again.
What I’m doing with my life
Born and raised in London, I've been in New York for three years.

I design software that is used by professional editors around the world. It launched in 2009, and I've just taken on my third employee. Running that business is one of the most exciting things I've ever done. However, when I go out, I switch the topic away from work quickly (unless you really want to hear about automatic correction of Oxford commas).

Away from work, I go dancing (especially swing dancing) and I see a lot of live music and theater. I'm also very into cooking. I’m always on the lookout for ingredients and take an immediate liking to anyone who has advice on good produce or how to make better use of my sous vide machine.
I’m really good at
Remembering little details. Mixing cocktails. Witty banter.

Also planning trips. The last adventure was live music in Nawlins. Before that it was whisky tasting in Scotland.

I'm GGG. So there's that too.
The first things people usually notice about me
British accent.

Also I’m skinny, I'm smart, and I have an opinion on almost everything.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Boyhood, Before Sunrise, Three Colors, Grand Illusion, almost anything by Almodóvar, Rohmer, Wilder or Buster Keaton (and anything with Fred & Ginger or Cary Grant).

The Little Prince, Generation X, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, Watching the English, Love in the Time of Cholera. Recently: The Song Machine.

Treme, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Twin Peaks, West Wing, Seinfeld, Transparent, House of Cards, Shark Tank.

Otis, Sam, Billie, Joni, Nina, Stevie, and Miles. Also Townes Van Zandt, Allen Toussaint, Tom Waits, Lightnin' Hopkins, and almost anything that came out on Chess Records or Stax. Recently: Punch Brothers and GoGo Penguin.

Highlights from the past few years are A View from the Bridge, Othello (Craig/Oyelowo), Streetcar Named Desire (Anderson), Hamlet (Cumberbatch), Hamilton, In the Heights, Richard II (Tennant). I love the summer and winter shorts at 59E59 too.

Too many to list, but especially Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican, barbeque and deli food. I'm on a quest to find the best bagel in New York (though I doubt anything can beat the mini-everything bagel at Absolute).

Since moving here, I've been introduced to podcasts and NPR. I'm addicted to This American Life, Radiolab, StartUp, Serial and The Moth. I've gone on to tell five stories at Moth StorySLAMs, and I'm working on a couple more. What story would you tell?
Six things I could never do without
Dance shoes
Harney & Sons
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The top five cocktails I've ever had in my life.

Also, my background is in international development and I'm very into politics. I feel like I lost both of my countries in 2016. Now I want more than ever to do something that will help make sure the next president is a Democrat (whoever she may be).
On a typical Friday night I am
Touring cocktail bars, swing dancing, at a blues/soul gig, or cooking dinner for friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a nerd, and proud of it!
You should message me if
You're quick witted and like good banter. I’m looking for someone who likes to challenge and be challenged.

I go for strong women who can express themselves (usually feminists). If you haven't written anything in your profile, it isn't going to work.
