My self-summary
Former jet pilot, current Esquire-in-training.

I enjoy a lot of widely varied activities: taking in a play or an orchestral performance, comedy clubs, the outdoors in different fashions, hiking, photography, shooting, building things (like my own airplane, currently a work-in-progress) and loads of other fun stuff. Planning on learning to ski as well (update: I went for the first time, and really enjoyed it...pain be damned). I enjoy the occasional game of racquetball as well as poker, which i'm good at, and pool, which i'm not. Enjoy reading, and try to write a bit as well, although i don't put nearly as much effort into it as i'd like to.

Holder of a BA, currently working on a Master's. Philosophical libertarian, religious infidel, and political independent. Pizza, chocolate-chip cookie, and mac'n'cheese snob. I like cooking and sometimes feel the need to prepare a nice dinner, but i also like fine dining and trying new places to eat. I have a desire to travel widely and to get as many and as varied experiences as I can. Impulse road trip anyone?
What I’m doing with my life
Doing my best to get wealthy while still retaining a bit of idealism and desire to improve the world. I've got a lot of life goals i want to accomplish before i die; I've marked several off the list already, like running a marathon (which sucks!), but others remain, like sailing around the world, and publishing something. I'm constantly working to better myself either by improving my position in life, learning a new skill or bit of knowledge, or adding to my store of experiences. And if you can teach me something, i'm all for it.

Current projects include:
-Finishing my Hot Tub
-Building my RV-7A (airplane)
-Burning Man awesomeness!
I’m really good at
I'm better than average at poker, give an excellent massage, make awesome mac'n'cheese, an expert marksman, reasonable photographer, and a pretty good conversationalist.
The first things people usually notice about me
I often smile. If i'm not happy, i can usually fake it well.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Musically I tend to like Classic Rock as a genre and lots of individual songs from all over the place. Some of my favorite musicians/groups are: Queen, The Eagles, Rush, Flyleaf, ACDC, Ramstein, Greenday, Coldplay, The Beatles, Elton John, Gary Jules, Alabama

I read a lot, and my favorite fiction is SF, though i'm a fan of non-fiction as well:

"Island in the Sea of Time", S.M. Stirling; "Starship Troopers", Robert Heinlein; "Honor Harrington", David Webber; "Riverworld", Phillip Jose Farmer; "The Reality Dysfunction", Peter F. Hamilton; "Guns of the South", Harry Turtledove; Issac Asimov; Arthur C. Clarke; "Guns, Germs, and Steel", Jared Diamond; "Sex At Dawn", Christopher Ryan & Cacilda Jethá

Movies that i go to the theater to see tend to be the big special-effects blockbusters. I figure those are better seen on a hundred foot screen, and movies with actual stories and characterization i can wait to rent. That said, some of my favorites are:

V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Full Metal Jacket, Dogma, Pulp Fiction, Patton, Serenity, Primer, Starship Troopers, Clerks, The Dark Knight

TV Shows: Firefly, Rome, ATHF, Family Guy, Futurama, BSG, SG-1, Bullshit, Band of Brothers, Mythbusters, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, South Park, Entourage, Breaking Bad, Bullshit, The Walking Dead

Favorite genre of food is definitely Italian, though i enjoy a lot of different things. I'm currently lusting after a good Brazillian Steakhouse...the best meal i ever had was at Texas de Brazil in Dallas, Tx. And i'm also on a doomed quest to find a good NY style pizza in Spokane. So far, no joy...i'm going to start exploring Seattle soon, so i have my fingers crossed.
Six things I could never do without
I'm going to assume this question means (other than survival necessities like food, water, and shelter...)

-An internet connection.
-A good book.
-Goals to work towards.
-Swedish Fish.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-On-going projects.
-Coming home from wherever i happen to be stuck.
-Where to go from here.
On a typical Friday night I am
It's a three-way toss up between: in the sky, unconscious, or out about town. I'm usually happy in any case :)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once got stuck in an automatic gate...
