My self-summary
How does one encapsulate a lifetime of experiences and shades of personality into a paragraph or two on a web site? I could wax lyrical about myself here, but in reality we would only ever know if we click by meeting in person. Anyhow, I am just me and I am pretty happy about myself and where I am in life, and know I do have a lot to offer.

I am most happiest when I am riding my bike or getting out and exploring (that may be nature and/or new countries). I have done a fair bit of travel in my time, but feel like I am merely scratching the surface of this amazing planet. Very much an experience over things kind of guy, my photos will attest to having quite an adventurous streak in me.

I try not to take myself, nor life, too seriously...and can be a bit cheeky. But then I can laugh at my own idiocy and the absurdities of life.

And ....ummm... Errrr....
What I’m doing with my life
I guess what drives me most is a curiosity and a strong desire to learn about this world. This may be from getting out in it and experiencing nature as well as different cultures first hand, but also learning from reading science and history. After all, life is one long journey in learning and experiences that shape us.
I’m really good at
Cycling through rush hour traffic without getting myself killed...well, so far, so good! And...umm..wiggling my ears.
The first things people usually notice about me
I often get told I have really blue eyes...so maybe that? Or I am often told I have a kind face.....
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read a lot...I've been called a chain reader and I was deeply flattered at that description. Richard Dawkins, Jared Diamond, Antony Beevor, Simon Singh, Nick Lane are all must reads. Plus I think if Bill Bryson was supreme ruler of this planet then the world would be a better place...or maybe not.

Movies? Baraka and Samsara above all else. Plus Epic of Everest. I do tend to go for arthouse movies with a bit of thought and intelligence. I am very much a fan of directors rather than actors (Herzog, Sorrentino, Jeunet, Coens, Kubrick, Lean, Wong Kar Wei, Park Chan Wook, Refn, both Andersons). But I love a good Western movie...yeah, yeah...i will watch those on my own...

Music? Love it, it is my life blood...more than anything. I have an insatiable appetite to hear new music. Prefer anything with a longer shelf life than dairy products. Lately listening to Sufjan Stevens, Lemon Jelly, Rammstein, Holy F***, The F*** Buttons, Explosions in the Sky, Ministry, The Orb, Motorhead, Killing Joke, Stars of the Lid, Swans, Blank Mass and Underworld...

TV? Documentaries mainly...especially Attenborough (I truly fear the day he goes to the great nature show in the sky), Brian Cox (anything with Cox in it is great...oh wait a sec...that was a bad choice of words), Iain Stewart. Fargo, Breaking Bad & Top Gear I miss you! After resisting for years I succumbed to Game of Thrones and it hooked me (saying "I'll just watch one episode of Game of Thrones" is a bit like saying "we'll got to the pub and have just one drink"...yeah, right). True Detective Series 1 was great, Series 2 was not.

Food...yum...especially anything with chili (I like it hot, even to the point where I'll need to shove the toilet paper in the fridge to get things cooling down the next morning....) and anything with caramel in or on it.
The six things I could never do without
My bicycle, ipod, arms, legs, torso, head.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Stuff. Hiking stuff. Cycling stuff. Work stuff. Life stuff. Stuff stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Cor, the internet is nosey asking me this question. Go mind your own business you nosey rascal you...
You should message me if
If you feel like it...You also understand that the most important thing in a relationship is being happy with each other and enjoying each other's company, rather than meeting a long list of requirements of what the other person should be.

Thanks for stopping by and keep on the sunny side of life.
