My self-summary
"I do many things, I am a writer, a doctor, a nuclear physicist and a theoretical philosopher; but above all, I am a man, a hopelessly inquisitive man." If you know what that's from I'll probably like you.

Well, seriously now, I am cinephile and, to a slightly lesser extent, a bibliophile. I love filling my head with relatively useless but intriguing information such as how a warp drive is supposed to work and the existence of turritopsis nutricula, the potentially immortal jellyfish. Seriously, look it up, there is a potentially immortal jellyfish!

I currently work as a cinematographer, focused on documentaries and some narratives for a nonprofit in Arlington.
What I’m doing with my life
I am working on becoming a cinematographer and trying to figure out why the apostrophes are not working in the text fields on this site unless I copy and paste which is preventing me from using contractions.

The apostrophes have since miraculously started working so now I have to revise some stuff that I've written but I'm too lazy to do it right now.
I’m really good at
Lighting, ranting, proselytizing, Foosball, mixing drinks, six degrees of Kevin Bacon and mindful banter. Also, I can tie a bow tie without the use of a mirror and get it right about 75% of the time.
The first things people usually notice about me
I suppose I have to ask around before I answer this question.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: "Civil Disobedience" by Thoreau, "Brave New World" by Huxley, "1984" I hope you know who wrote that one, "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro, "The Forgotten Man" by Amity Shlaes, "The Mind of the Market" by Micheal Shermer, "Anatomy of the State" by Murray Rothbard, all things Shakespeare.

Movies: City of God, I am Cuba, Once Upon a Time in the West, Annie Hall, Fargo, The Wrestler, The Lives of Others, Goodfellas, Children of Men, The New World, Into the Wild, Citizen Kane. Basically anything by Kubrick, the Coen Brothers, Paul Thomas Anderson, Woody Allen, Terrence Malick, etc. That was just to name a few, you cannot ask that kind of question to a filmmaker and not get a long winded answer.

Television: South Park, The Simpsons, the McFarlane trio, Star Trek TOS, TNG and DS9 and Penn and Teller's Bullshit which the world is much poorer for having lost.

Music: Johnny Cash, REM (older stuff), Joy Division (New Order too but they lost something when Ian died), Radiohead, Muse, Death Cab, The Beatles, Jeff Buckley, Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones, Styx ('Come Sail Away' has become my go to karaoke song), Bob Dylan, Damian Rice, Blind Melon ('No Rain' is my happy song), Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin and many others.
Six things I could never do without
Aside from the essentials, food, shelter and such, I would say Cameras, movies, wine, scotch, women, and pseudo-intellectualism.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Film, women, politics, religion, economics, science, fiction, science fiction, story telling, stuff like that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Drinking, reading, writing, that kinda stuff.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I often have full blown debates with myself when I'm alone on long car rides. I figure I'm still sane so long as I know that there is no one else in the car with me.

I used to weight 240 pounds. I weight 150 now.

I like cloths more than most of my gay friends do. Seriously, I own a shirt with a British tab collar, I would wear a suit everyday if I could justify it, and I strongly believe that men should use a full or half Windsor knot rather than a four-in-hand when wearing a neck tie.

I still have an AOL account.
You should message me if
If you are a smart, cool person with a drive to learn and grow. If, given the chance, you would do to Justine Bieber what Daniel Day Lewis did the Paul Dano at the end of "There Will Be Blood". If it bothers you as much as me when someone refers to something as being "addicting" rather than "addictive". Or, if you just wanna hang out and see if we are good together. It's all good.
